Tiewolf's White Fur SAI Tutorial by TieWolf Tiewolf's White Fur SAI Tutorial by TieWolf
EDIT:  I have a NEW fur tutorial that is in VIDEO form; check it out here: tiewolf.deviantart.com/art/Tie…

I'm hoping that this will show up at a size that isn't overwhelming and a size that isn't too small - but yeah, tutorial on basically how I do fur and using the easiest color possible: white.

Feel free to ask questions if anything is confusing - I like to think this is a very easy way to do fur in SAI for how well (I think) it turns out in the end.

I added the colors I used at the bottom so you can try it out for yourself. :)

In my free time I like to test out other artist's techniques. This took AGES but the results were awesome. I just did a test swatch of this technique, and didn't actually use it for a piece, so I haven't uploaded it, but it really does end up looking nice.

This is one amazing tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to make this >.<)b I'm planning on using this for a wolf I'm doing for someone. This will help a lot and even though I don't have to, I'm going to credit you. I will credit you so hard that the world will explode. Most other fur tutorials are pretty hard to work with but yours is straight forward and easy. Just my opinion thought. Again, thank you for taking the time to make such a wonderful tutorial and this comment is so long, I am so sorry.

Hello!  I'm still quite new to photoshop -- what does the multiply/clipping setting do for you?  Does it create a duplicate of your current layer in the same shape so you can play with it?  As it stands, I don't quite understand why you'd do a white layer, and then an identical grey layer on top.  Would love your advise!

Thanks;
-Lady S.

Multiply makes the colors darker if there is color beneath it, but also leaves the layer slightly transparent.

Layers that are in a clipping set make sure that even if you draw / color outside of the base layer, that it doesn't show it outside of the base layer.

Play around with them, that is the only way you will be able to understand how they function. :)

There are multiple water tools/brushes in SAI, the one that doesn't have a number next to it is the main one to be used.

this is kinda late sorry but if you're having trouble with the water tool not giving you opaque strands than try using water 10. sense you said yours is in chinese, for me it's right underneath the binary tool (pixel tool, looks like a pencil) and if you havent downloaded different brushes it should be there, you just need to use that and then set the size smaller depending on how large your fur area is. If you cant find it, just set your water tool to a density of 95, blending 50, dilution 100, and persistence 90.
the size and min size, like I said depend on your fur area size, haha
hope this helped (:
You may have to change the settings back, however in later steps though o:

I briefly looked at this tutorial and realized that this is a pretty damn good one :), Infact, it is one of the best I've ever seen, and sure beats my fur tutorial. I'm impressed. Since you are not quite well known here, I will give a shout to my watchers about this tutorial:) I'm looking forward to trying this out. Thanks so much for doing this for us wanna-be artists;)

Tried out this tutorial, and realized you're missing the settings for the water tool ;). The water tool produces very different effects depending on the setting you have, plus there are two different water icons in Paint Tool Sai!!:) If you can remember what the settings were, can you share them with us? :)
