Well, this week on the 19th of June will be the last convention that I will be attending for artist's alley for a long time. After the convention I will be focusing more on creating original comics, art and maybe even experiment with my art style a bit. I'm also trying to branch out to other sites because I feel like DA is just not for me anymore. I'm not a very talkative person online or irl, so I think it's kinda in bad taste to complain about the lack of feedback. But still it seems like my attempts to try to engage my watchers are not working. Maybe I'm just being impatient, I dunno. I just don't like having this feeling that I'm throwing my work out in to the aether after working so hard on it. I kinda feel directionless without any artists to talk to, but I don't want to bug anyone.
Argh, I'm getting moody again aren't I? Sorry about that. Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions besides conceptart.org? My skill level is just not there yet.
As for my comics. I know I have alluded to it a couple of times earlier this year but I have finally started work on my short comic which will debut later this year in an anthology by Square City Comics. And I am in the process of writing my second and third comic, which will be another short and a full length series. All three of my comics will be science fiction but the full length one will be a bit more on the hard science fiction side, so I have to do a lot of research. I wanted to do this story for a long time and the more I work on it, the more enraptured with the story become. But you're probably wondering, what is it about? Well all I'm willing to say is that it's about space travel. Or more like everything you wanted to know about space travel and why it's so cool but with a more realistic spin. But back to my first comic which is a post apocalyptic short written by my best friend Marie Smith. The second short will be written by myself and is a bit more of a Hitchcock-ian / Twilight Zone sci-fi fable.
So that's what I've been doing lately. A lot of writing and a lot of research. Not as much illustrating as I would like to do though.
Now on to my art style. The style that I'm doing now is hard, frustrating and time consuming. You have no idea how many times I felt like tearing out my dreads over my work lately. So I'm thinking about going back to something a bit more simple. I still want to pursue semi-realism but with a more "flatter" approach. Kinda like Honyarara and Est Em. So please don't be freaked out if you see my work drastically changing.
Well that's kinda where I am at the moment. Please feel free to comment if you have any suggestions for sites I could branch on to or about how you feel about me changing my style, or just say hi. I won't bite. I promise!
