This is the second dress that I have made. I wanted something Victorian, and I keep aiming for something from the Civil War Era, but somehow I ended up with Victorian / Steam Punk and I absolutely love it. Maybe next time! Anyways, thank you to everyone who looks, and I appreciate all of your comments and suggestions. Oh, and if you're interested in making an item with this much lace... its expensive but worth it.
You should be so proud of this work. It fits your model's body so wonderfully. I love the bib buttons running down the torso. Beautiful work.
Thanks so much This was my second piece of clothing, I'm actually the girl in the photo, so thanks!
Love it! And I totally admire anyone who can sew. The color is quite beautiful. Its a shame this kind of dress has been long out of modern style I think its awesome!
Thank you I admire anyone who can sew as well, I'm not sure that I count myself among them, I'm generally confused as soon as I unfold the pattern! Oh well, doesn't stop me from trying and I hope that it doesn't deter anyone else. Truthfully I wanted a dark mauve color, but the purple turned out beautifully. I too think these dresses are awesome! I'm working on another one right now, finally a true civil war era style... though not so much in the color, the story of my life is this: The store has it, but they don't have 10 yards of it and the warehouse also does not have it so that I cannot order it. Oh well, new color!
lol so the story of my life too. Well it does make one improvise which is a very important skill lol.
the dress is beautiful!
If you really need lace and can crochet, look up how to make Irish crochet lace. You could make your own. My mother used to make Irish Crochet lace collars and cuffs for my sisters Irish dancing dresses.
I will see if she still has any examples and photograph them for you. But it is a case of my mother is 80 years old so it may be a case of if she can remember where it is. But I will ask her on sunday.
wow ... that's amazing! I would love to use that in a photo shoot for sure!
Thank you, maybe some time I will get the opportunity to do so... and use my other gown as well.
Beeeeautiful work, sis! !!!
