I made this dress for the Civil War Ball that happens each November in Guyandotte, West Virginia. I'm not sure yet if it is my favorite creation, but it turned out to be very beautiful. The bodice came from a pattern that I mostly followed but had to do some definite alterations on in order to get it to fit me and the skirt is my own pattern. Materials are velvet covered taffeta, Venetian lace, velvet ribbon, and black satin. This contains about 7 yards of taffeta and the underskirt is made of 50 yards of two different types of tulle. The necklace is also handmade, created for a masquerade ball I attended last Halloween.
Oh wow I’ve been looking for that kind of damask velvet covered taffeta fabric for quite some time now. They stopped selling it at Walmart and I’ve been struggling to find it online ever since. >~>
Wow, thats a great fabric pattern and the bodice is lovely. It makes the gown look precious and not too exaggerated at once.
