I get where you're coming from and while it can definitely be overdone; but more than politics, I've worked in both the food and customer service industries and let me tell you:
I have dealt with people like this more times than I'd like to admit, this is not caricature or parody. Arguably, I've made the man more reasonable than the worst I've had to handle in my life.
While I understand stereotype burnout, I'd suggest reading the actual text instead of broad-stroking it as just "another use of an archetype".
