Description
One night many seasons ago while Kiara and Kovu's cubs, Mukasa and Chiku were still very young and Kiara was expecting again the young queen exited the den to find her brother, Kion a fair distance away from Pride Rock with their mother and now retired queen, Nala talking quietly together as Kiara made her way down through the large boulders to join them she couldn't help but smile at the sight as Nala nuzzled her son whatever it was they were talking about seemed to reassure Kion that she would be there for whatever he may need.
Kiara: "Hi Mom, Hey Kion."
Nala: "Kiara dear! What are you doing up and walking around?
Kion: "Shouldn't you be asleep with Kovu and the kids? He may wake up and worry if he doesn't find you next to him."
Kiara: "It's nice that you show great concern for my "health" but you don't have to worry. I needed to get some fresh air anyway. Also, please don't concern yourself with Kovu, Kion that lump of dark fur can sleep through just about anything especially these days now that he's a new father."
As Kiara began to laugh lightly at her own amusement the only response she got from her brother was a small smile before it just as quickly faded away to a look of sadness as Kion looked back to the stars for answers. Nala looked on at her daughter with concern in her blue eyes as Kiara suddenly stopped giggling.
Kiara: "Kion? What is it? What's the matter little brother, was it something I said?"
This caused Kion to look at his sister with total shock in his eyes as Nala observed the conversation between her two adult cubs from a short distance away.
Kion: "NO! No, Kiara it's nothing you've said. However... It's what you and Kovu "did" that I don't think Tiifu and I will ever get to accomplish that's troubling me.
Kiara: "I don't really follow you, Kion. What are you talking about?"
Kion: "Cubs, Kiara... Tiifu is convinced she'll never cubs because..." Kion hangs his head as he began to sob."
Kiara seemed to understand as put one of her forepaws on her brothers back. Nala approached Kiara from the other side and whispered something into her ear. What Nala had told Kiara only confirmed her understanding further. The reason why Kion and Tiifu hadn't been having any luck with getting pregnant was because the females of Tiifu's family had been known to be infertile every second generation. Apparently it was just a struggle for Tiifu's grandmother and produce only her mother. But Tiifu's mother had no problems giving birth to both her or her brother and now that Tiifu had reached the age of sexual maturity she was afraid that she now had the same problems her grandmother was having back when she was young.
Kiara: "Oh Kion! Don't worry. I'm sure you and Tiifu will have some of your own little ones real soon. I know it's all Tiifu ever talks about while she's with me and Zuri."
Kion: "But if she doesn't! What if we end up parentless forever!"
???: "Kion... Kiara..." A whisper of a voice that was unfamiliar to Kion and Kiara's ears of what sounded like a male began to get louder but Nala cocked her head in surprise as it wasn't a voice she hadn't heard since she was very young.
Kion and Kiara both looked towards the sky and two spirits in the stars began to morph into shape of a lion and a lioness. Nala stepped forward shocked at who it was. It was both of Nala's parents her mother, Sarafina and her father, Kura looking down upon them.
Nala: "Mother... Father... I have missed you so much!" Tears began to flow from her eyes as both of Nala's parents smile down upon her.
Kura: "My darling blossom. Look at you and what you have accomplished. A queen, a wife, a mother, and now a grandmother. Your mother here may have been there for part of the journey but know I have been watching over everything since Simba defeated Scar so many seasons ago."
Sarafina: "And Kiara we're so very proud of you and Kovu on the birth of your first cubs as well as your second litter."
Kiara: "Thank you, Grandma. We certainly miss you and Grandma Sarabi very much. I wish we could have had the chance to know you and Grandpa Mufasa, Grandpa Kura."
Kion: "Mom and Grandmother have certainly told us many stories of you, Grandfather."
Kura: "I'm very flattered. You both know of me so well even though we never met each other in life I still love my two grand cubs just as much as if I was present psychically to see you through the many accomplishments in your lives. Which brings us to the reason we made ourselves appear before you all tonight, Especially you, Kion."
Kion: "Me? What do you both need to say to me, Grandfather?"
Sarafina: "It's not what we have to say to you but we've heard your prayers and wishes, Kion and I think you should go an be with your mate my grandson. Tiifu needs you."
Kion's face went white with unexpected shock but it didn't last long as a smile popped onto his face. Quickly he rushed back to Pride Rock but first he thanks his grandparents respectfully and then rushes to go and be with Tiifu.
Kiara: "You have certainly made him the happiest lion in the Pride Lands."
Sarafina: "He will make an excellent father."
Nala: "Thank you for putting my son's worries to rest Mom and Dad."
Kura: "Your welcome, Nala."
Sarafina: "We will be watching over you all, always from the stars. We love you both so much."
With that Both Kura and Sarafina's spirits disappeared back into the night sky. Nala shed a few more tears as Kiara began to lead her elderly mother back to Pride Rock.
