There was a time when it was just Mukasa and Chiku. Simple times when it was just two siblings without a care in the world. In a time before their younger brother, Kibo and their cousins, Shujaa and Uzani where even born and before Chiku and Mukasa had their own respective responsibilities. These two siblings where a couple of rambunctious Cubs getting into all sorts of mischief. One day while the two where sitting with their parents, Queen Kiara and King Kovu. Vitani was telling her niece and nephew stories of the days when she and their father where cubs and living in the termite mounds in the Outlands. This area sounded very fascinating to Mukasa but even Chiku didn’t like the sound of such a scary place. She hid her face in between her mother’s paws and started shivering with fright. Mukasa on the other paw turns swiftly to look at his father and tells him that he wants to go and see where he and Vitani grew up which earns a shocked look between the two siblings. Kovu strictly tells his son “NO!” And Vitani agrees. She tells both cubs that the termite mounds are a very dangerous place and should never even think of going into that stretch of territory for any reason. Mukasa is upset that neither of the grownups will take him and his sister to the homeland of their father until an idea pops into his mind.

A few nights later in the early hours of dawn. Mukasa told his sister of his plan at first she wasn’t onboard with this plan and thought about telling Kovu what Mukasa was up too but she didn’t want to have her brother angry with her for tattling to their parents of his intentions and another part of her was just as curious and she wanted to see the Termite Mounds just as much as her brother did. The two cubs snuck out of the den and slowly helped each other down the rocks and off they ran taking the same route their mother took when she was a cub herself to the Outlands.

By the time the royal siblings reached their destination. Chiku excitement dropped dead like a rock. This is where their dad and Aunt Vitani grew up with Crazy Zira as cubs? What a boring wasteland this place was! Mukasa on the other paw wanted to explore further. Seeing as Chiku didn’t want to loose Mukasa in this dead place. She follows Mukasa to keep an eye on him. As the two peels over a nearby rock they see a small Pride of lions in the distance. The two see cubs in this Pride of strangers and Mukasa thinks about going down to say “Hello” but suddenly both cubs are immediately yanked away from their hiding place and Mukasa looks up to see who had grabbed him. Kovu was carrying his son with an irritated look on his face awhile Vitani carried Chiku who looked just as annoyed. The two cubs looked at each other and knew they where in for a hard scolding by the time they got back to Pride Rock…
