Description
When a messenger bird had arrived in The Pride Lands from The Tree of Life announcing the birth of King Kion's youngest son, Akin as well as the sudden passing of Queen Rani who died of blood loss during the birth of the new prince. This news devastated Amela that she seperated herself from her adoptive family and excused herself from her duties so she could grieve alone in peace.
A week had passed and Kiara was getting very worried about Amela not coming home so she asked her daughter, Chiku to go and search for her. Chiku nodded and began to seek the young hybrid lioness out. When Chiku had finally found her she was on the edge of the Pride Lands and not to far from the Outlands. Even Mzingo's Parliament had taken an interest in Amela in her frail state as it looked like she hadn't eaten anything since the messenger bird showed up with the devastating news of her mother's sudden passing. It seemed Amela and Rani where finally coming to terms of peace and tolerance of one another presence despite Amela's parentage on her father's side or how she was created. Chiku looked up irritated at the 11 vultures that flew in a circle high above where Amela lay.
Chiku: "Not today, Mzingo! You and your parliament will have to go and find something else to eat that has already died!"
That warning seemed to nip them where it hurt because the vultures flew off back towards the Outlands with a satisfied look and Chiku puffing out her chest proud with herself she went over to Amela who seemed so far away buried deep within her own thoughts so she may have not noticed or heard the announcement of Chiku's arrival. But as Chiku approached her adoptive sister those beautiful magenta eyes that where always so full of life and joy looked so empty and hollow of all emotion expect utter great sadness in which remained there.
Amela: "Oh… Hey Chiku. I'm sorry if I worried all of you but I still need some time to myself…"
Chiku: "Hey Amela, I know you've told us multiple times you want to be left alone but my mom insists you join us for a meal when you're ready to come back to Pride Rock please come and join us we really miss having you among the pride."
Amela moved her head so she was looking into Chiku's eyes but it was clear even after a week of being alone the sadness was still raw and fresh within her heart.
Amela: "I appreciate you checking up on me Chiku, but tell Kiara I'm not ready to come back home yet. I'm still trying to process my mom's passing but I'll be back as soon as I possibly can."
With that Amela curled up into a tighter ball and covered her face with her paws as Chiku began to step away and as she glanced back over her shoulder she knew she needed some help but she wanted to get her home as soon as she possibly could.
When Chiku had finally got back home to Pride Rock she found Ono was speaking with her parents and then as they saw her both Kiara and Kovu got to their paws and looked at their daughter with eager concern. Kiara was the first to reach Chiku as she leapt the last of the tumbled boulders up to the ledge of Pride Rock.
Kiara: "Well?"
Chiku: "I did find Amela, Mom but… She didn't want to come back to Pride Rock."
Sighing, Chiku got sat down looking defeated as she stared down at her paws. Kovu came to stand beside his daughter and put a comforting paw around her shoulders.
Kiara: "Oh great Mufasa… I was hoping even her favorite meal would bring her around. Now I'm just as stumped on what to do next."
Chiku: "I'm very worried about Amela, Mom. No matter how much I pry and beg her to get her to come home she won't move from that spot. I think she blames herself for Rani's death but I don't know what we should do."
With Mother and daughter looking totally defeated Kovu shifted his gaze back and forth then after a few moments of pondering the King Consort have an idea beginning to form in his mind.
Kovu: "Let me try and talk to her. I might be able to persuade her to come home if I tell her about my own past."
Kiara: "That's a good idea, Kovu. Also take a pound of mountain goat with you. She could probably use the food for her hungry belly."
Kovu: "I'm already on my way!"
Kovu picked up a hunk of meat from the pile and began to make his way to where Amela was with Chiku and Kiara watching out for him as he became a dark speak disappearing into the distance.
