The Voice of Heshima

Now let’s talk about the voice I’ve chosen for Heshima. I went with Mae Whitman—an actress many of you might recognize as the voice of Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Just like Katara, Heshima has a warm, compassionate, and nurturing personality. She deeply cares for the members of Chiku's Junior Lion Guard and is fiercely protective when their safety is at risk.

What really makes Heshima stand out is her empathy, especially toward those who have suffered or feel forgotten—particularly orphans. That sensitivity comes from her own experience: she lost her biological mother in a tragic accident when she was just a cub. Raised by an adoptive mother who had a harsh upbringing in the Outlands, Heshima grew up learning the importance of kindness and understanding. She treats others with the same compassion that was shown to her, making her a gentle yet powerful presence in the Guard.

Mae Whitman's ability to convey emotional depth, strength, and warmth makes her the perfect choice to bring Heshima to life.
