Sleepy Hollow Lionized: Abbie Warms Up to Katrina

This was something I wanted to explore further myself the rocky relationship between Abbie and Katrina.

As Season 2 goes on Abbie and Katrina get into an argument over whether Henry can be saved, and Crane has to break up the fight.

Katrina: "Henry is under Moloch's sway."

Abbie: (Groans) "Uh. This again."

Katrina: "If we can sever Henry's ties to the demon, we will see that the soul of my son is still alive inside of him."

Abbie: "But how are we supposed to do that? Besides, who knows if there's a soul still in there?

Katrina: "It is what I believe, and it is what matters, because he is our son."

Abbie: "And he is my problem, because I am a Witness, and he is one of the Horseman of the Apocalypse, something we (Points to Crane) have been fighting long before you got here."

Katrina: "What do you know about how long I've been fight...?

Ichabod: (Steps in between Abbie and Katrina) "Stop this! Now! Both of you!"

Meanwhile, and Katrina are trying to work together after having a bit of a stereotypical girl-hates-girl shouting match in the cabin. The catalyst for the fight is Parrish, and whether or not he can be swayed toward affection for his mother and father. Katrina remains faithful to the cause, but Abbie — always the skeptic, if such a thing can exist in a show centered on the supernatural — isn’t so sure.

The two wander through one of the seemingly dozen local cemeteries in search of the heart of the succubus. Eventually they find a crypt and uncover a jar full of maggots (or rats!? it’s under a perception spell!) that houses the heart, all shriveled and gray. Katrina starts chanting some anti-succubus spell (there is so much chanting this season!) and, just as she’s about to destroy the heart, Crane, back at da club, stabs the succubus. This enrages the heart’s jar which emits a kind of shockwave that buckles Katrina’s knees. Abbie quickly shoots and destroys the jar, and begins reading the incantation herself, setting the heart on fire. This allows Crane and Hawley to kill the succubus.

Abbie helps Katrina out of the crypt, and tells her that they are stronger with her help than without. Katrina knows Henry will try again, and Abbie thinks at first that Katrina agrees that Henry must be stopped, but Katrina says she has to destroy Moloch to break her son's ties to the demon. Katrina can sense his growing power, but he is still vulnerable and Katrina thinks she can convince Abraham to take her back. Knowing that Crane will never let her go, she asks Abbie to tell him that she has moved to destroy Moloch, she cannot face leaving him again. At the cabin, Abbie finds Hawley bandaging himself and she gives him what's left of the charred heart for him to sell.

Abbie: "Crane is right. We're a lot stronger with you on the team. It took me a little while to get used to the idea, but I can see it now."

Katrina: "We may have destroyed the succubus, but Henry will devise a new plan."

Abbie: "So you agree Henry must be stopped."

Katrina: "I agree that this evil has to come to an end. And for that to happen, I must destroy Moloch."

Abbie: (Surprised) "Wow."

Katrina: "I can sense his growing power. But he's still vulnerable. For now."

Abbie: "The Horsemen are guarding him."

Katrina: "I can get close. Abraham is still in love with me. I can convince him to take me back. I will tell him how Ichabod has moved on. And how he's found his life here, with you by his side. And once Abraham takes me back, I will gain access to Moloch. And I will strike him dead."

Abbie: (Concerned) "There is no way Crane is going to agree to this."

Katrina: "Which is why I need you to tell him for me. I cannot bear to leave him once again. And he'll understand that coming from you."

Abbie: (Hesitant but Gives in) "You're betting an awful lot on Abraham's love for you. And Crane's."

Katrina: (Sighs) "Perhaps. But I've learned that love can be a very dangerous weapon."
