Sleepy Hollow Lionized: A Solemn Vow

Crane is not feeling very Christmas-y. Abbie is there to sympathize with him and to help him find some answers about Katrina and his son. Seeking the reason that Moloch went after his son, they call Henry Parish, the Sin Eater, to help them get in touch with Katrina. While Henry denies his ability to do anything more than read and remove sins, Crane reminds him that he brought Arthur Bernard across realms to speak to him and convinces Henry to try. He agrees to make an attempt to reach Katrina in Purgatory, but warns that Crane’s life will be in danger.

Crane accepts that, and though Henry isn’t convinced that he knows the risks, he instructs Abbie that she is not to interfere. He tells Crane to summon Katrina with all of his heart before strangling him close to death. It works, and Crane finds near an empty bassinet, but for a doll, and Katrina lighting a candle.

Ichabod: "Katrina?"

Katrina turns around shocked to find her husband standing before her as he too turns to face her their eyes meeting once again at last. Katrina swiftly approaches Ichabod. She warns him about Moloch.

Katrina: (Shocked) "No, no, no, no. How are you here?"

Ichabod: "The Sin Eater."

Katrina: (Fearful) "Moloch is always near. If he learns of your presence--"

Ichabod: (Interrupts with tightly controlled anger) "Is it true we have a son?"

Katrina: (Tearful) "I would have told you when you first awoke, but we've had fleeting moments of precious time."

Ichabod: (Serious) "We made a covenant when we married. You owe me the truth. His name."

Katrina: "Jeremy. Our son's name was Jeremy after your grandfather. I did not know I was with child when I buried you in that cave. Fortunately, neither did my coven they sought to punish me for saving your life. It was only when I fled to Europe in search of a spell to unbind you from the Horseman that I learned of my condition. When my quest failed, I returned home to my coven's relentless pursuit if I did not reveal where I buried you, they would condemn me to a fate worse than death. I knew then they would not stop until they had us both, so I fled to the only sanctuary I knew: - Fredericks Manor."

~Flashback~

Lachlan Fredericks: "Come on."

Katrina: "I delivered our son under Lachlan and Grace's care."

Lachlan Fredericks: "Hurry. Get her inside."

Grace Dixon: "Push! (Baby Crying) Mrs. Crane, it's a boy."

Katrina: "He was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. He had your eyes. But I couldn't keep him."

~Flashback Ends~

Ichabod: "Not whilst your coven was bent on revenge."

Katrina: (Tearful) "I could not condemn our son to a life as a fugitive. To protect him, in order to give him a brighter future, I I had to let him go."

~Flashback~

Katrina: "One day we'll see each other again, little lord and I will hold you in my dreams every night until then. You are my heart and soul, Jeremy Crane. And always will be. I made you a little friend."

Katrina goes to pick up a doll off one of the nearby pews to show it to her son.

Katrina: (Baby Coos) "He will watch over you while I'm away. He will make sure that you are safe and that you are never, ever alone."

Katrina then with heavy sorrow weighing upon her already broken heart passes Jeremy off to Grace Dixon as she vows silently that she will raise Jeremy as if he was her own son. Katrina quickly turns away exiting the church sobbing the whole time as Jeremy's cries for his mother pierces Katrina's ears but she doesn't dare turn back and keeps going.

Katrina: "I left him in the care of Grace and her husband Joseph, a pastor at Trinity Church."

~Flashback Ends~

Katrina: (Sadly) "And that was the last time I laid eyes on our son. This is an echo of that place, Purgatory's cruel way of confronting me with my choice until I am freed. So I come here once a day and I light a candle in memoriam, and I pray for his soul."

Ichabod: (Disbelief) "Your own coven banished you here?"

Katrina: (Tearful Sorrowfully) "I was put here by sisters with great power, known as 'The Four Who Speak As One.' I am so sorry, my love, but I had no choice but to give him up in order to save him."

Ichabod: (Promising) "I will find out what happened to our son. I will free you from this Hell. We will defeat Moloch and we will be together again. I swear."

Ichabod and Katrina lean their foreheads together as the yearning to be reunited TURELY REUNITED after centuries apart is strong within the both of them. As they are about to kiss there is pounding on the church doors that catches both Ichabod and Katrina off guard.

Katrina: (Hurriedly) "You must leave. Release your will to be here and you will return to your realm. Do it now! Go!"

As Crane releases his will to be there and returns to Henry and Abbie, he tells them that Grace took his son to keep him safe.
