Passing the Torch

Ever since Ono had lost his position of Keenest of Sight dude to exposure inside the volcano in the final battle against Scar, Ono lost much of his eyesight for a time, that left his dark brown eyes a pale purple. After Kion passed on the position of Keenest of Sight to Anga Ono had been granted the new role as the Lion Guard's Smartest but over time as Ono was mostly acting as a navigator to get the Tree of Life and his eyes where healed he eventually regained his sight and with Queen Janna forever being in his debt for all she did for him before she passed on Ono thought it would be a great idea to act in the role as royal advisor to Kion and Rani but unfortunately for Ono the title of royal advisor had already been dawned upon Ullu the Eurasian eagle-owl by Queen Rani's parents long before Kion ever showed up to rule by Rani's side. This would often cause conflicts between the little white owl and the egret which would always end up in the royal matriarchs breaking up the fights Kion would often take Ono away to talk and Rani would do the same with Ullu. But on one of these one-on-one's between the two old friends Ono had been doing some deep thinking since he last visited the Pride Lands. Zazu was getting on in his years and since he never took a mate or clutched any children of his own Ono would often fill in for Zazu while he had been away on official royal business and now that Zazu was on the verge of reaching 45 years of age he had been in search of another fitting young bird who could be a wonderful succor to act as Queen Kiara's majordomo and possibly Future King Mukasa's majordomo too an African Grey had crossed the old hornbill's mind but those parrots where so rare these days Zazu had often heard stories that the humans had been coming to the Pride Lands and kidnapping the numerous species of parrots that lived there. All the animals knew humans where dangerous and not to be messed with but one way or another these kidnappings of parrots had to stop and this would be one of Ono’s first of many big tasks that he and Kiara would work on together as her majordomo. So as Ono had explained the situation to Kion and that he felt his role was no longer at the Tree of Life was needed. Kion was saddened to know that Ono would no longer be living with them but happy to know he was willing to take Zazu’s place. So as Ono returns back home to the Pride Lands along with all the former Lion Guard members to witness such an important event Ono now stood before Zazu now retired and ready to enjoy his seasons of rest before it was his time to complete his life’s journey and join the proud kings he had served throughout his seasons of service in the royal family. King Ahadi (Partly), King Mufasa, King Simba, and finally Queen Kiara and Ono was about to take on this new responsibility to the best of his knowledge with everything he could muster. As everyone cheered Ono couldn’t help but puffing up his feathers looking proud before he turned to look to Kion who was now sat with Shujaa and Uzani and his mother, Nala. Ono took this time to fly up to the ledge of Pride Rock and bow before Queen Kiara and King Kovu as both rulers gave him approved nods that they looked forward to him serving them for many seasons to come.
