Description

It had been several days since Kiara had laid her mother, the late Queen Nala, to rest. The weight of grief hung heavily on her shoulders, for now both her parents had joined the stars above. Though Kiara ruled the Pride Lands with wisdom and strength, a part of her still longed to see them once more — to feel their presence, to hear their voices again. She hoped with all her heart that she was honoring their legacy, carrying herself as a good queen should.

As night settled over the Pride Lands, Kiara entered the den. She paused for a moment, gazing at her family—Chiku, Mukasa, and Kibo curled up in peaceful slumber beside Kovu. Not wanting to disturb them, she quietly circled three times before settling down upon the familiar stone slab that had cradled generations of monarchs before her. Her eyes grew heavy, and soon sleep pulled her into its depths.

When Kiara’s eyes opened again, she was no longer in the den. Instead, she stood in an endless sky bathed in soft darkness, illuminated by countless stars. Around her, shimmering celestial animals roamed—lions, zebras, elephants, and more—all formed from starlight, moving with a quiet grace. Curiosity guided her steps as she walked forward, her gaze drawn ahead to a breathtaking sight—a brilliant rainbow bridge stretching across the sky.

Eagerly, Kiara approached, but just as she was about to set paw upon it, an invisible force seemed to gently hold her back, as if whispering: Not yet. She hesitated, then lifted her gaze and saw two luminous figures approaching from across the bridge. They moved side by side, calling softly to her:

???: “Kiara…”

???: “Kiara…”

Kiara: “Do I… know you?” she asked, tilting her head, her voice tinged with wonder and confusion.

???: “You should, my daughter.”

???: “After all, we are the ones who gave you life… who raised you to become the queen you are today.”

The two lions came into full view, and Kiara’s breath caught. Tears welled up as recognition washed over her—it was them. Her parents. Simba and Nala. No longer aged and frail as they had been at the end of their lives, but young and vibrant once more, restored by the timeless grace of the stars.

Kiara: “Mom… Dad…”

Simba: “Hello, my princess.”

Nala: “Come here, sweetheart.”

Kiara stepped forward and nestled into her mother’s embrace. Nala’s touch was cool, like a gentle breeze, but beneath it radiated the same maternal warmth Kiara had known all her life. Simba’s paw rested softly against her back, its touch like winter’s mist, yet still comforting.

Kiara: “I miss you both so much. I don’t want to leave you again.”

Nala: “We’ll always be here for you, Kiara. In your dreams, whenever you need us.”

Simba: “And even when you’re awake, just look to the sky, call out, and you’ll find us in the clouds. We’re never far.”

Nala: “Morning is almost here, my little flower. It’s time to return.”

Kiara: “Already? Please… I don’t want to go yet.”

Simba: “There are those who need you now, my daughter. Your pride, your family—they look to you for guidance and strength. But we will always be watching over you and your brothers.”

Nala: “Goodbye for now, Kiara. We love you so deeply.”

Kiara: “Goodbye, Mom… Goodbye, Dad…”

As their voices faded, so too did the celestial realm around her. The starry sky dissolved into darkness, and Kiara slowly awoke, back in the den. Standing before her was her eldest son, Mukasa, gently nudging her awake.

Mukasa: “Mom, wake up. It’s time to get up. Ono is waiting to give you the morning report.”

Stretching her limbs, Kiara rose to her feet. Her gaze lifted to the pale morning sky, where a few lingering stars still twinkled faintly. A soft smile touched her lips. Though they were gone, her parents’ presence remained a guiding light in her heart. With renewed resolve, she stepped out into the Pride Lands to meet Ono and begin the new day, knowing she was never truly alone.
