Greta oto is a brush-footed butterfly, and is a member of the clearwing clade; its wings are transparent. Its most common English name is glasswing, and its Spanish name is espejitos, which means "little mirrors."

Wow, this is really incredible! I've always been quite fascinated by butterflies, but I'm hardly ever out of the house to notice any around the place. It's really nice that you were able to capture such a lovely picture of this particular one though!

I've only seen this butterfly once or twice in insect books and such, but it really gives me the feeling of fragility.

I'm not an expert at photography, but I'm a bit interested to know--Was the butterfly just unbelievably docile and let you near it to snap a picture, or did you zoom in on it with your camera? Either way, I'm quite impressed by you actually finding such a critter in a yard. I can't seem to find many interesting bugs around mine. Do worms count? Hahaha, let's not answer that.

Great shot.
I'd have taken the butterfly a bit to the lower right corner so it would seem that he's going somewhere..

Also, there's something blurry on the edge of the wing that can be fixed with a two-minutes work with the healing/cloning tool. Please do :P
