Update 6/7/13
Back on the ground again and speedy responses have resumed. The next journal update, whatever it may be about, will be a new entry so this fragmented mess can move on and be forgotten. Thanks again to everyone for their patience. :)

-------------------------------------

Update 6/6/13
Sorry guys. This should be the last update like this for a while. I'll be traveling again today and won't have internet access until later in the day (when I'll be tired and grumpy from being in airports all day). Prompt note and comment responses will resume tomorrow (Friday June 7).

I'm also working on putting together another guessing game contest, similar to this one from last summer. So hopefully that will be up in the coming weeks.

Happy June :)

-------------------------------------

Update 6/3/13
The winner has been chosen by random.org. elphieofkiamoko is the winner! :)

-------------------------------------

Update 6/1/13
Raffle entries are now closed (though, you can still answer the tag if you want :)). Winner to be announced soon.

-------------------------------------

Update 5/27/13
I'm back on Earth and have successfully cleared a bursting inbox. Thanks to everyone for their kind and supportive messages. The raffle is still on (until the end of the May).

-------------------------------------

Heads up to everyone, especially those with an active commission or prize coming from me. I'll be spending a good chunk of the day in airports and in the air. And I'm both wary of public Wi-Fi and way too cheap to pop for it anyway. So considering this and the fact that I'll probably be tired and grumpy tonight when I have access to a secure connection again, I probably won't be responding to comments or notes until tomorrow (Sunday, May 26). Thanks for your patience.

I'm off to the airport. Let's get this over with...

Do not want

In the mean time, enjoy a "filler" journal that I've had socked away for a while:

-------------------------------------

I have several unfinished tags to do so I'm combining them in one journal and answering them all in one fell swoop. I'm not going to bother listing the rules/instructions. If you've been on dA for long and don't know them yet, then I'm afraid there's not much hope for you. XD

•List ten things about yourself:
1. I don't mind the flight itself but HATE airports.
2. Deep water (deep enough to not be able to see the bottom/floor) scares me.
3. I'm really bad at reading analog clocks quickly.
4. I'm allergic to cats. (Not that I let that stop me.)
5. I generally disliked art classes as a kid.
6. My favorite shape of pasta is penne.
7. I've never broken a bone...
8. ...but have lost count of how many stitches I've had.
9. I collect hubcaps.
10. I found it very difficult to come up with ten things about myself.

Alterraen's Questions [Original tag here]
1. Who is your favorite artist?
Visual artist? I'm way too lazy to mention them all here.
2. If you had to marry a celebrity of your gender, who would it be?
Pass
3. Who is your celebrity "I would tap that!" person?
Pass
4. Do you think that I like celebrity tapping?
Lol. It sure sounds like it.
5. Have you dyed your hair?
In the past, yes.
5. Do you ride horses, and if no, why the hell not?
Not currently. But I have in the past.
6. What is your favorite video game?
Again, it's hard to say just one. Some favorites that come to mind are Sims 2, Tetris, and Super Smash Bros: Melee.
7. What is your favorite letter?
Of the alphabet? I'm probably showing my vanity here but I like the letter V.
8. Who is your favorite author?
Again, too lazy/too many to mention.
8. Would you ever teleport to me if I was in a crisis?
If teleportation were possible, sure.
10. Did ya notice the double eight?
And the double 5 and missing 9.

Acornflare's Questions [Original tag here]
1. Cliff diving or Skydiving?
Skydiving. Though, I've never done either.
2. Do you have an obsession? And if so, what to?
Cats and art
3. Favorite number?
17
4. Would you ever kill a spider with a water bottle?
Kill? No. Trap inside and release outside? Yes
5. Have you ever meet a celeb?
Yes
6. Are unicorns real????
I've seen no credible evidence to support their existence. Though, the fact that they're not "real" doesn't mean that I don't still think they're awesome.
7. What do you thing of the band "Within Temptation"'s music?
I only own one of their albums (The Heart of Everything). They're not among my favorites but they're cool.
8. Do we own cats, or do they own us?
I like to think that it's a relationship built on mutual respect. How often that's true, I'm not really sure.
9. What are your thoughts on extreme highlighting?
You mean as an artistic choice/style in paintings and drawings? Obviously, I'm fine with this. Though, I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm not interpreting this question correctly.
10. Will you wish me a late happy birthday?
Sure! Happy late birthday!
11. Whats your hair color?
Dark brown (and grey)

AlatusAquae's Questions [Original tag here]
1) What's a quote that you really like?
"When a man loves cats, I am his friend and comrade, without further introduction."
-Mark Twain
2) What's the best gift you've received?
Probably my cats.
3) What is one place in the world that you want to visit?
There are a lot of places I'd like to go back to. But a place I've never been to before and would like to visit is Scotland.
4) What's something that never fails to make you smile?
My cats
5) Who is your favorite person in history?
I couldn't narrow it down to just one. But Norman Borlaug comes to mind. If you're not familiar with him, then do yourself a favor and take a minute to read about him. He used the badassery of science to save billions of lives.
6) What's your favorite song?
Again, narrowing it down to just one is nearly impossible. One of my all-time favorites is "Song from an American Movie, Pt. 2" by Everclear. It's off one of their lesser albums but it's a song that still means a lot to me.
7) Earth, air, fire, or water? And why?
Probably earth. I don't believe in astrology but all my signs on various zodiacs are coincidentally earth signs. That, and I think I'd be an earth-bender in the Avatar universe.
8) What do you think is one of the best things about your personality? (go on, brag a bit, I know you're all awesome)
I have plenty of faults, most of which I'll absolutely admit to. But if there's one thing that's always been important to me, even as a little kid, it's the fact that I'm trustworthy and keep things in absolute confidence when necessary.
9) You have the opportunity to travel in time, but only one trip, there and back. Where do you go?
I'd like to give a smart or intellectual answer and say something like witnessing the start of the universe or the signing of the Declaration of Independence. But honestly, I'd just go back in time to see loved ones who have passed on.
10) What is one thing that you are happy about in this very moment?
That there are good people in this world.

•My ten questions:
1. What would you request as your last meal on death row?
2. Are you a dog person or a cat person? (Or both? Or neither?)
3. Do you prefer to do your schoolwork/paperwork in pen or pencil?
4. Favorite concert or live performance you've ever been to?
5. What was the last song you had stuck in your head?
6. Do you know how to tie a tie?
7. If you owned a pro-sports team, what would you name it?
8. What actor would you choose to play you in a movie about your life?
9. Link me to the last deviation you added to your favorites.
10. Link me to a guilty pleasure song of yours. Be brave. This is a safe space.

As usual, I'm not tagging anyone specific or asking that people do the full tag in a journal (though, you're welcome to). But if you answer my ten questions in a comment below, I'll enter you in a raffle to win [a very humble] 10 dA points that I have lying around. (Entries will remain open until the end of the month, at which point a winner will be chosen randomly and announced in another journal.)

Hope everyone's enjoying the last days of May. :)

Glad you're happy!

I hope you had fun (or are still having fun?) at your concert/festival. I've been following your exploits on tumblr. :D

XD It was super fun. I was going to try and liveblog the whole thing, but I was in the mountains, and my 4G was like "LOL NOPE". More pictures will continue to pop up. I have a really great one of me grinning like a moron with the fully lit stage in the background.

:3 I hope your travels go well!! I'm so behind on journals, I'm not even sure where you were/are. D8 I feel like a horrible friend.
ThreshTheSky's avatar
Thanks. :D My first round of flying went smoothly but I'm still out of town and so have another to get through.

And you're not a horrible friend. If I can count on anyone to take the time to leave a comment on my boring journals like this one, it's you. :aww:

Oh, sure, bribe me with a raffle. -w-;;
1. What would you request as your last meal on death row?
Shrimp stuffed with cream cheese and crab meat. Yes, for reals.
2. Are you a dog person or a cat person? (Or both? Or neither?)
CAT! :D Though I genuinely hate the presumption that, because I'm a cat person, I must hate dogs. I like several types of dogs, I'm just more...specific about them than cats.
3. Do you prefer to do your schoolwork/paperwork in pen or pencil?
Pen. Even when doing math.
4. Favorite concert or live performance you've ever been to?
Oooooooohmygosh. Um...that's super hard. I've seen everyone from Paul McCartney to Josh Groban to Linkin Park. XD It'd probably have to be Mumford and Sons/Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes at Railroad Revival, just because Marcus and I made eye contact twice and Ben and I made eye contact once and I still get giddy thinking about it. ^//////////////^ *squee* Though I have to say, Steam Powered Giraffe was super, too. I got to meet them (which was hard because I'm painfully shy IRL), and they were all exceptionally nice, and the show was so entertaining and fun.
5. What was the last song you had stuck in your head?
Santa Monica by Everclear. TwT Fun story, I HATE Santa Monica. The people there are just always SUCH irrational jerks. But I get that song stuck in my head so often...including now. Dx
6. Do you know how to tie a tie?
:D Single knot, yesh.
7. If you owned a pro-sports team, what would you name it?
Uh....I guess I'd like to have a hockey team called the Blades. It's a double meaning and all that fun stuff. XD
8. What actor would you choose to play you in a movie about your life?
KATE WINSLET. SHE'D NEED TO GAIN LIKE 100 POUNDS BUT I PROMISE TO LIVE A MORE AWESOME LIFE AND MAKE IT WORTH IT. Really, I don't look anything like her, but I love her style. :I
9. Link me to the last deviation you added to your favorites.
[link] You have GOT to see the video for ~renegadecow's automatons. o__o
10. Link me to a guilty pleasure song of yours. Be brave. This is a safe space.
-___-;; [link] Yes, I know just one night can be so wrong. And I haaaaaaaaaaate pop. But I get excited when this comes on.
ThreshTheSky's avatar
You won the tag raffle. I sent 10 points your way. :)

Aw yeah! Somebody else who actually remembers Everclear. :D And I was relieved to have someone link me to something that I'd actually consider a "guilty" pleasure. Pretty much everyone else has linked me to something that's just not in their normal repertoire/genre of listening but isn't really that embarrassing. I can say that I'm fairly proud of my diverse and eclectic music tastes. But I'm not going to lie and say that I don't enjoy a Ke$ha song now and then too. XD

XD I have really random taste in music, so there's really nothing that's "unusual" for me. I'm unusual enough.

8D GAHAHA! I KNEW EIGHT WAS MY FAVORITE NUMBER FOR A REASON!

Hope you had a safe flight!! :aww:

And for the heck of it...
1. What would you request as your last meal on death row?
Coffee pudding. Buckets full of it.
2. Are you a dog person or a cat person? (Or both? Or neither?)
I've never had either, but if I had to get one, I'd get a cat!
3. Do you prefer to do your schoolwork/paperwork in pen or pencil?
Pencil for schoolwork (luckily I don't have to write any by hand anymore!), pen for notes and such.
4. Favorite concert or live performance you've ever been to?
The last performance of Åbo Svenska Teater's production of Les Misérables.
5. What was the last song you had stuck in your head?
Marry Me, this year's Finnish Eurovision entry. [link]
6. Do you know how to tie a tie?
No.
7. If you owned a pro-sports team, what would you name it?
Javertas.
8. What actor would you choose to play you in a movie about your life?
I want my life to be portrayed as a musical movie where guys play the girl parts and vice versa, so I can have Samuel Harjanne sing in the role of me. (Don't know if you've paid enough attention to my rambling to know who he is – but worry not, I interviewed him once: [link] :P)
9. Link me to the last deviation you added to your favorites.
LesMis: Prouvaire by my #LesMisClub co-admin =SarlyneART: [link]
10. Link me to a guilty pleasure song of yours. Be brave. This is a safe space.
En Riktig Jävla Schlager, one of the songs Sweden considered for Eurovision this year (I'm starting to notice a pattern here...): [link] – musically talented older Swedish men are my kryptonite, I'm afraid... (I sat in the same theatre auditorium with the men of ABBA last week – really!! – and almost fainted out of sheer excitement.)

And hey, one thing about your answers – The Sims 2 ftw! Sims 3 sadly can't quite compare, the second one was the best...
ThreshTheSky's avatar
Thanks! Indeed, everything went smoothly. :aww:

Actually, I could definitely imagine Samuel playing you in a musical. I know he's a guy, so don't take this the wrong way. But you two look you could be siblings. 0___o

I completely agree! I loved Sims 2 so much that I was super pumped for Sims 3. But it was a huge disappointment. I never play it but still pull out 2 from time to time.

Raffle ticket 7
Starlene's avatar
Glad to hear that! :aww:

Heh, that's half the reason I mentioned Samuel here... I never saw the similarity myself until someone pointed it out to me, but now I can't unsee it. A bit weird! I need to take a photo with him some day...

I don't have Sims 2 anymore (after I got a new computer, reinstalling every single expansion and stuff pack just felt too much trouble. So, I didn't play it for years and finally figured it'd be in better hands if I gave the expansions to a friend who actually had the game installed), but I do play The Sims 3 sometimes. I think it's fun – especially with some mods that tweak the storytelling... But definitely not as nice as 2 was. I think every new Sims game loses some of the humor the first one had! The third one, somehow, feels a bit too serious to me. Plus the sims look creepier, and the music just doesn't compare. :P
ThreshTheSky's avatar
I was pretty angry when I got a new computer and found out that Power PC apps like Sims 2 were no longer supported. I kept my old computer. The only reason I ever pull it out anymore is to play Sims 2 on occasion.

Sims 3 had its nice points about it but I just couldn't get into it like I did with Sims 2. They promoted it as an improvement (and I'm sure a lot of people liked it), but the more "open" format of the game where all the households are on live-time even when you're playing another lot was too much for me. And I agree about the Sims' look. A little too creepy.

Then again, I'll admit that I probably went into Sims 3 being too critical. I had too much invested in my Sims 2 lots. ;P
Starlene's avatar
Heh, you're really determined, keeping the old computer and all... :D Got to hate it when old favourite games don't work anymore. I have a couple of nostalgia games too I'd like to revisit sometimes, but can't, since my computer's too new for them too...

I actually like them all being live-time – I used to play with a system where I'd play exactly five sim days on one family, then switch to another for five days, so the neighbourhood would stay synchronised... I had a little calendar thing for tracking my progress and all. So I guess that was a bit too much for me! It was good when I first only had one or two houses, but when my family grew and the number turned from two to twenty-seven... It's definitely easier if they all grow up on their own. ;P

I don't mind the flight itself but HATE airports.
I'm the total opposite: flying makes me antsy but I love wandering around airports.

I'm allergic to cats.
:iconstephencolbertomgplz:

I generally disliked art classes as a kid.
I think all self-respecting artists disliked art class. =P

1. I've always pondered this and tried to think of some sneaky way of getting a meal so large I'd die before I finished it. Although I guess if I was to be really clever, I'd arrange for something that'd kill me before they could.

2. Ironically, while my preference is dogs I have more experience looking after cats.

3. Pencil every time.

4. I'm not sure if it's my all-time favourite, but there was a concert a few years back that did a stellar rendition of the William Tell Overture.

5. I've actually had three or four floating about interchangeably, but I guess the newest candidate is Lysenko's "Separation Waltz".

6. Aye.

7. The Llamas. Gotta love SimCity.

8. Blimey, my life? I honestly have no ide—actually, Kenneth Brannagh might work. He's done comedy, right?

9. [link] :B

10. [link] Funny story behind this one: I play a series of geopolitical role-playing games on another forum; in one I was a secret society that came to embody the resistance to a string of Chinese dictatorships and/or sham democracies (you may recall my entry for this feature). I was at a restaurant one day and this song started playing; I was immediately struck by how uncannily the lyrics could be construed, verse by verse, as a history of the struggle for Chinese liberation in that game.
ThreshTheSky's avatar
Lol. I approve of your last favorite. ;P

That's really interesting! I've heard that Michelle Branch song many times but never thought of it that way.

1. What would you request as your last meal on death row?
When I was a kid my father took me to Germany and we ordered a Pizza that was the best pizza I ever ate. So this particular pizza would be the one I want :D

2. Are you a dog person or a cat person? (Or both? Or neither?)
Neither. I'm more a free spirit like a bird.

3. Do you prefer to do your schoolwork/paperwork in pen or pencil?
It was always pen I wonder how people can use pencil to write anything.

4. Favorite concert or live performance you've ever been to?
Well last year I was on the concert of Carrantuohill. It's a Polish band playing the Irish music.

5. What was the last song you had stuck in your head?
It was Zlap za... by Grubson another Polish artist.

6. Do you know how to tie a tie?
Yes I do :).

7. If you owned a pro-sports team, what would you name it?
Lethal Angels

8. What actor would you choose to play you in a movie about your life?
Definitely it would be her Helena Bonham Carter.

9. Link me to the last deviation you added to your favorites.

10. Link me to a guilty pleasure song of yours. Be brave. This is a safe space.
