The Gang by Threepwoody is an incredibly unique capture of flamingos which is rendered quite intriguing and eerie through its composition and post-processing. ( Featured by Mrs-Durden )

This is really lovely.  The lighting is so right.  I would have taken it for a painting had I not checked to see the medium.

Woah  How did you do that? It looks amazing! So sharp and that bird in the centre does look kind of evil. The title fits great as well  May I ask how you made the background so dark? The effect is rather stunning.

hello,
Thank you :) My English ist terrible, but I try it.
The background was quite dark and the picture was slightly underexposed. Most of it was composed in photoshop raw menu (deep and black values) and the flamingos were taken out again. A bit of dodge and burn and a lot of noise reduction for the picturesque effect + a warm filter. The exact sequence of steps and every detail, I can not exactly describe...i've tried a lot

I'm really drawn to this not because the lighting or subject matter are so unique, but because of it's combination.  When the average person thinks of this bird, automatically our brains put forth bright, sunshine, natural water and vibrant colors.  With these birds seemingly fading in from the dark, I'm really interested again and want to stare at what details I can and cannot see.  You have a dramatic flair of values going on and I'm stupidly impressed with this idea.

This is an awesome capture :D
The lighting works amazingly well on the bird, especially on his eye :)
