I am a (very) amateur photographer, when I have time. Mostly I am busy with work, friends, and my pets. My photography is frequently of said pets as well as any wildlife I encounter, other people's pets, and zoo animals. Occasionally I branch out into flower macros for practise with subjects who don't move.

Well, I finally got out to the zoo with my brother. Brought both cameras, but he used the powershot and I stuck to the rebel. We managed to see a fair amount of the zoo, more than expected considering that the cold caused my knee and hip to stop functioning so walking was a literal pain. I went straight to bed when I got home yesterday and someone has borrowed my card reader till I get home from work today, so for now the pics all remain on cameras, but I definitely got a few post worthy shots, and I'll be getting them up sometime this week I expect.
New lens for my camera arrived today. Sadly my battery barely had enough charge to test it out. But the new battery should be here in the next week or so :) Then I shall be off to the zoo! Gotta get used to focusing (and the zoom) first though, haven't used a zoom lens in almost a decade!
so. I had a tiny bit of extra money, I worked a bunch of extra shifts over the holidays and saved it all up. So I started looking into lenses. Some (the guy in the camera shop for example) might say I need a whole new camera as mine is obsolete, but it still works fine and I've never had a problem with the images it takes, only with the limitations of the kit lens and lack of zoom (problems I would still face if I did upgrade my camera). So the hunt was on for an affordable telephoto lens. Bought a used one today on ebay. It will probably be a while before it arrives (and when it does I need a new battery as my existing one no longer holds it
