Galamoth by thraxllisylia Galamoth by thraxllisylia
Hi everyone..

ive forgotten who it was, but someone commented on 'Scylla Wyrm', the other Castlevania artwork i did beginning last year..And that action promptly reminded me that i do infact do FANART..Fantastic..so went headlong into this piece..

This is Galamoth..he is a considerably large persona found in the catacombs of the upsidedown castle..one of the last bosses before the final showdown.

I love the challenges that came with this piece, it was a breath of relaxing fresh air...

Not least because of the fact i very rarely visit character art..

Alucard was more difficult to pull off, as i basically splashed some dark shapes down then refined...where as i had carefully planned Galamoth, and his line art. which only led to colouring..etc..

I look at Scylla and think 'by golly batman, thats looking old :P.'

[link]

take care everyone, likely the last piece of 2007...hehe a few more pieces than achieved last year..not bad.

safe holidays

Marley

This guy really gave me a long fight. But I triumphed eventually. And it made me feel GREAT!

One of the most formidable bosses of SotN, as I recall.

Oh, yea, back in the day if you weren't equipped well enough you certainly had a tough journey to beat him.

Galamoth always intrigued me. I saw him in an advertisement for the game, maybe for EGM magazine in 97. I went through the game beat it, and wondered why the heck I hadn't encountered him. Then learned of the upsidedown castle. GREAT game. Thank you.

It's a combo of swings with the alucard sword and using mist to evade magic attacks and kicks.

Yea, have to admit though I found a good if dangerous area to level up rather fast, so by the time I received my Alucard sword, Galamoth was buried pretty quickly. and so was Dracula ;-)

The knights before Dracula are fun to play with, especially once you have the poison gas cloud. You level up after killing just THREE knights.

Oh, good Lord this boss...

The first time I fought him, I didn't know that one really cheap trick to beating him and I was seriously underleveled.

I still beat him, though.

After about an hour of doing 30 HP of damage per swing. :P

that is tenacity, I beat him after I discovered the healing sword, lazy but still challenging haha (healing swrd recovers 8 HP after every contact made by the weapon).

good memories eh?.

actually, a lot of people have stumbled across this image via google image, and I have to say I am amazed at the lack of "Galamoth" art out there. A castlevania fan page on Facebook posted this image and gave praise to the person who found it and blogged it, but not to me. well at least it was good enough to pinch hah!.

Yea I don't think Galamoth has been painted very often at all. Although if Galamoth were to fully extend himself in height he'd be bigger than what I depicted here, I'm sure. Very deceptive boss design.

Alterantively I have seen someone grab credit for this on a Castlevania Facebook FanPage. I was a bit miffed, least it is popular ^^.

Thanks for commenting, Kam.

Very nice piece, man. I had such a hard time with him until I found the Vorpal Blade. Favorite weapon in the game, especially since you can move while using it.

No prob.
The vorpal blade is the one with no animation lag. It just shows the, like, aura of where the slash was, and it'll attack as fast as you can press the button. Very useful if you don't have a horrendously powerful weapon. Plus, you can move while using it, which is fun. Although now I'm powering up my Muramasa and Sword Familiar.

I use the healing sword, gifted by azagal. (big invisible dude that wields a large sword, sometimes flashes orange when you hit him).

it gives you 8 points of health back with every strike of an object..there is also a platform behind galamoths head that allows you to strike him and trap him facing the opposite direction..a little cheap, but what the hey, still there for a long time though.
