It's April 11 here as I type this, so keep up!
I'm mostly lurking around DA nowadays. Haven't had as much time as I did before to create and upload the usual stuff I (think) that most people here may have known me for (whatever that is).
I'd like to get back to the military art theme that I used to do, but I don't want to just do the same stuff. I want to refine my skills, and that includes being more efficient and productive alongside any refinement and improvements to my skillset. In short, I need to get good.
But...while I'm not as active on DA as I used to be, if you're an iOS user then check me out on the Sktchy app. Users upload photos, artists then use those photos as reference for their art and upload the results for all to see. It's such a great concept and the ethos is to move away from Likes and focus on inspiration. The app is nice and slick too and for portrait artists it provides a HUGE resource. If you join, come look for me: Thom Chen (yes, very unoriginal).
I know I've mentioned the app in the past
, and I've uploaded some artworks that I did on Sktchy here before:
but that's just tip of the iceberg. And (I hope)you'll be surprised at what lurks below.
If that's not your thing, then just consider that to be my alter ego. Or whatever you like.
But if anyone reads this doesn't want to sign up to Sktchy but still maybe want to see what all the fuss is about and what the duck i've been up to, i'll start uploading some stuff here too, just to share with the community.
Reading wise, I just finished reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, highly encourage anyone to read the book before watching the film. Some of the 80s refs flies over my head since I'm a dirty millennial (in the setting of the book/film I'd be 51, probably still driving around in tanks in the OASIS).
