De l'aube by thomasxarcane De l'aube by thomasxarcane
Two years passed since I uploaded the first version of De l'aube here on deviantART. One thing you didn't know, that version was not complete.

After one month of work, I am proud to present you the completed version of that painting.
-Louis-Thomas P. on June 20th, 2005.

On this day, the death of spring is imminent...

(Translated: )

I saw a man drown, this morning, at dawn
Distraught of silences, of heavy magnificence
I tasted the trees rising into the shadows
As the wing, it withdraws (into itself) and ask to escape

A voice, distant, but so tangible
Insinuate in me a pure decadence
The vice grows, the heart beats; I see myself degrading
This peace, this calmness, that should be invading

Words of encouragement, personnal thoughts and interpretations are very welcome.

i really like this, but i think the girl, something is not right with her. i think would have been better if it was another girl, or was another color of the girl so she would fit into the bg, because she looks real copy/paste misplaced you know. but i really dig the forest and the hollow dude, mostly the hollow dude.

Thank you :) Would you like to share with me why exactly do you like this photo? I would love to read your thoughts on this!

I like how she stands out. I mean the vibrant colors that hit you right in the eye. She's practically the first thing you notice.
Then the spirit. I firstly thought this was a photomanipulation.

For some reason she looks like 'hope' in this picture.
You know, the only 'strong' thing on it.
thomasxarcane Featured By Owner Oct 16, 2006
:) This is exactly how I've always seen this painting as it evolved under my brushes. Thank you for your comment and... thank you for remembering me the time when I created this painting. Sincerely.

I wish you a nice evening

I love how she stands out, and with the poem...

It's like she really is watching. There but not completely, and doesn't belong within the situation. She can't experience exactly what the man is feeling, and witnessing is as close as she can come to fully knowing.

While she's not really there, neither is he with the way he is translucent. It's the perfect connection. Well done:)

Fantastic it.... the contrast of purple to all the green.....

and the poem to bring you back to what the real centre is.....the drowned soul...

You really know very well what you are doing: the background is really classy, i can see some digital painting touchs in it, that i suppose u worked hard on it to make it the way you want. color scheme in other hand is based on that law saturated green X her violet dress tones. very good job

un trabajo impresionante... el humano transparente que se percibe ahi... derrocado y "carolina" que lo observa reservada y callada posando exhuberantemente con su paraguas morado, es hermosa!

I must have overlooked this...

amazing... I can see it move with life..

her umbrella picked up by the wind... and the man.. the invisible silhouette of what once was picked up with the wind as well..
floating off into the trees.

Looking at this painting, I am amazed--because suddenly the previous version does indeed seem unfinished. It's like blinking at a slightly out of focus photo, and finding everythign sharply in focus when you weren't even aware of it being out of focus. (..I hope that maeks some sort of sense?). It is really refined, with a lot of your improvement in art (I'm sure) a part of that. It's a beautiful image. The colours of the girl under the umbrella really bring your focus to that part of the painting, though the detail throughout keeps the eye's interest (and all that good stuff). It's as if she's stumbled across a mourning ghost, some invisble creature watery with falling rain that isn't there. The figure is grief stricken, or has simply given up, and she stands there not quite willing to intrude.

Thoug the emotions are not obvious, you feel them all the same. Magnificent work, as always. Truly stunning.
