USS Federation Exploration Group

The Federation-class Dreadnaught, rushed into construction due to tensions along the Federation / Klingon border, Suddenly became a ship without a role, after the abrupt imposition of the Organian Peace Treaty. Construction of the class was quickly halted, with only the USS Federation and USS Star League completed. These two enormous vessels were refitted, labs and computer banks replacing weapons systems and magazines, for a new exploration mission. They would form the core of deep exploration survey Task Groups, the  Dreadnoughts essentially providing the role of mobile Starbases, from which their attendant vessels could range in the opening of unexplored regions of the galaxy. Here we see the USS Federation group, passing through a rich planetary nebula.

This image was basically an excuse to put all of Greywolf Starkiller's greywolf-starkiller.deviantart… ships together. He just released his Miranda class and Federation class, and I thank him for his work and amazing skill!
