the guy in green is the purple one's only friend at the moment. he's trying to find some way to help his poor, stupid friend so he doesn't need to be constantly drunk (check the links for context)

he's also discovered that this friend has had a crush on him for years, and was just too nervous to tell him about it. but now he's constantly drunk or high and keeps bringing it up and it's starting to make him really uncomfortable.

he's just generally having a pretty bad time at the moment, but he refuses to abandon his best friend to this. unlike the majority of humanity in his world, he has a shred of empathy and cares about the happiness of others.
