Eeri is a Hawk, which means that she's supposed to be absolutely perfect, a completely flawless being. unfortunately, when she was around 15 she was attacked by an animal, she got away and came back home, but she was scarred, physically and mentally, by what happened. she also developed an odd red shimmer in her eyes. all that makes it very clear to her people that she's flawed, broken, and monstrous. she's allowed to live, but she's shunned pretty hard by everyone she meets. so, when she wandered a bit too close to enemy territory and found a bat who called her beautiful, treated her kindly, and seemed to genuinely enjoy her company, she didn't hesitate to throw out all the horrible things she'd heard about his kind and call him a friend.
