A Gift For Sentinel

I've been working on an ask blog for a Trolls au me and my sibling made, i thought i'd advertise it here!

There were a lot of orphans in the troll tree, and there were systems in place to care for them and help them cheer up and get back to singing, dancing and hugging as quickly as possible. Branch took to these programs like a cat to water. He didn’t want hugs, he didn’t want to play, and he definitely didn’t want to sing.

It didn’t take long for other children to start avoiding him, and the adult caretakers could only handle so many bites, scratches and escape attempts before admitting that they had no idea how to cheer him up.

Creek, the son of a cult leader worshiping the bergens, was the only troll who refused to give up on him- presumably because all of Branch’s attempts to scare him off just made him seem more bergen-like (and because Poppy wasn’t allowed near either of them.)

By the time Branch was 10 and the escape tunnels were finally finished, he had (at first reluctantly) entered an extremely codependent friendship with Creek.

this is Sentinel, by the time Branch realized Creek had been left behind it was far too late to go back for him, not that anyone would let a child return to the tree either way.

Without his only friend Branch spiraled into some very unhealthy habits until Viva saw his value in security and started helping him protect the village and letting Poppy near him.

He wouldn’t call Viva or Poppy his friends, but they’ve helped him settle into being a grumpy hermit rather than an unstable hermit.
