The meaning of colors, according to the Constitution of the Republic of Mozambique, is the following:
Red - the struggle of resistance to colonialism, the armed struggle for national liberation and defense of sovereignty;
Black - the African continent;
Green - the richness of the soil;
Yellow-gold - mineral resources, and
White - peace.
The star represents the solidarity between peoples, the AK-47 gun symbolizes new armed struggle and defense of the country, the book is reminiscent of education for a better country and hoe agriculture. It is the only flag in the world to include the illustration of a rifle to date.
