My Bio
We're probably best known for our appearance in "Observe and Report" and "Arrested Development" but we have a lifelong love of drawing and comic books. We currently self-publish "Declan and Chang: Sweet F.A.", a comic book based upon a Mechwarrior RPG campaign we've been running with our friends for the past fifteen years. We welcome constructive criticism, compliments, and anything else that will start an interesting conversation.

We'd have no call to be nice if your art weren't so impressive and inspiring.  Keep up the great work! :D

In the interest of full disclosure, we are HUGE fans of yours. That having been said, this piece lives up to your previous works in terms of quality, technique, and vision!

The title evokes a great degree of loneliness as does the empty swing next to the young girl. The falling star, and its attendant wish, offers us hope that there will be a happier ending to this melancholy story.

The Good: You have told an incredibly deep story here. The colors are awesome and the way you have composed this picture is just fantastic! We are pleased to say that your style continues to impress and amaze us and if it weren't for these pesky things like jobs and life in general getting in the way, we would spend all of our time staring at your pictures.

The Bad: Like we said, this picture is tinged with a bit of melancholy and it makes us a little blue too look at it. Okay, the fact that it makes us feel means that you have created a picture with emotional impact and that's not bad (it's great), but we're putting it under The Bad Section because this is our critique! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="387" title=";) (Wink)"/>

The Ugly: We're not even going to joke about there being anything ugly here.

We are giving you highest marks for this picture and you deserve them!
missing piece.
We have a feeling you're going to be AMAZING when you get a handle on anatomy.  And we think you're well on your way to getting it taken care of since your people don't lack for anything other than a little polish.  Your composition is fantastic and your backgrounds are stunning.  For anatomy and body ratios, we recommend J. Scott Campbell's Danger Girl Sketch Book and Burne Hogarth's Dynamic Anatomy.  Both books show you what anatomy ratios are important and how to execute them.  Burne Hogarth's book is a little more in depth while J. Scott Campbell's is simply more fun to look at. ;)

And if you already have these books, we apologize for repeating what you already know.  :D

And last, but not least, we're not joking or throwing you a bone when we say your writing is great.  Your dialogue comes off as very natural and very compelling.  Keep up with it.  Being able to draw is great, but being able to draw AND write is really awesome!

We looked over your gallery and since you requested a critique, here it is!

Your backgrounds are AMAZING. The detail and composition as well as perspective are nearly flawless. The main weakness to them is that the line depth is nearly uniform, making the environment seem two-dimensional in many respects. This is a minor problem that a colorist could fix, but line work is just as important to showing depth as lighting and shading are.

Your figure drawing, however, needs some work. It's not bad, but at times it is inconsistent and can look rushed. For example, the older man with the ponytail on page 37 - his look is great! You managed to draw an over-the-shoulder profile of him and it looks natural and compelling without losing anything in terms of anatomy or perspective.

On page 35, however, the big orcish-looking folks are not drawn with the same attention to detail and look malproportioned and slightly off - even for orcs.

In this respect, our advice is you should just take a little more time when executing your work on figures. You have talent and we understand that the desire to get a page done can lead to rushing (Lord knows we're guilty of that at times!), but taking that extra bit of time is always worth it.

We would also like to commend you on your writing. Dialogue is a hard thing to get down, especially for comics. Your characters, however, speak like real people and sound very genuine! These are characters who aren't just characters - they are real people! You should be proud of your writing skills!

All in all, keep up the good work!

Okay, we saw this and had to critique it. The Falcon is one of Marvel's most underrated characters and so seeing him given the star treatment really made us happy.

THE GOOD: You gave the Falcon a nice, strong pose. He's ready for action but isn't flexing like some kind of Mr. Universe contestant. The outfit is also very nice, with the bright red of the wings contrasting with the maroon of his uniform. The armored plates are a nice touch in updating the old spandex outfit, too.

THE BAD: There's not a lot to criticize here. There could have been more attention paid to the shading on his arms so that the light followed the contours of the muscles, but style-wise, the straight edged shadows work.

THE UGLY: Nothing.

All in all, this is a very good piece - one of your best, in fact. 4.5 out of 5
