- Encounter at Mutara by TheWyvernsWeaver-

Captain Judith Laverne Hopps.

With a name like that, he had expected to find himself up against some age worn hare with ragged fur and a chip on her shoulder for a long life in space. Someone who had spent so long sailing the stars and learning the harsh realities of the void, that there was little room for anything other than the desire for base pleasure and profit. Someone cynical, as cold as the empty dark of space, and ruthless. Someone a great deal like himself.

The figure in black and crimson had not expected the cute little bunny to be standing at the wheel of the ship that had given him a run for his credits. For half a moment, he almost felt sorry when his men trained their pistols on her. Forcing her to surrender almost seemed overly cruel, given that she was obviously young and still full of the life that had drained out of him years ago. She was anything but old, anything but windswept, and when her eyes turned to him and he saw the fire behind them, he knew that she was anything but cold.

But as he watched his ship and remaining crew go up in a ball of plasma that nearly blinded him, he realized that she did have one thing in common with him: she was most certainly ruthless.

Closing the muzzle that had been hanging open slightly at the sudden turn of events, his green eyes focused on that smirking muzzle even as the bulk of her crew, who had clearly been waiting for his ship’s destruction, rushed in to surround his boarding party. Surrender was the only option it seemed, so he allowed his pistol to dangle from one finger as he narrowed his eyes on her. Then a toothy grin crawled up the corners of his muzzle as he swept his gaze from her ears to the tips of her toes slowly.

“Something funny, fox?” she asked, her tone sharp as she hid the flicker of irritation he saw in her eyes.

“I never expected you to be so cute,” he quipped, his grin growing for a moment when her irritation became flat annoyance before she waved for the crew to lead him away. He went without resistance, though he did turn to steal another glance at the burning wreck of his ship as the scrap drifted apart. The view of it didn’t allow his grin to remain, and his narrowed emeralds focused on her again even as she turned her back on him and set about directing the repairs on her own ship without giving him a second glance. An oddly impressive figure, for an adorable little bunny, and it was hard to decide if he wanted to kill her or fall in love with her.

The Mutara Trade Ruse - 01
The Mutara Trade Ruse: Chapter 1
Slick was a good name for him.
Slippery as a topsail schooner in a fully armored galleon, she spent the better part of two months chasing the ship simply known as the Wilde. Around the moons and across seas of stars, she had hunted this one prize; the most wanted pirate in the Mutara sector. And when she finally had the ship with black sails in her sights, the battle was grueling. While parts of her own ship smoldered and billowed black smoke into space, she ignored the blood dripping down her face as she banked around and away from the bow cannons. She heard the fighting behind her as it reached the doors of the bridge. Tactically sound, swift. Sly. He always managed to board without being noticed, strike before there was time to react.
As the doors to the bridge exploded inward and four armed mammals stormed in with pistols drawn, she turned to see the scruffy red fox wander in at a seemingly leisurely pace. Dr
