Job: [Family Physician] He owns a family clinic called "Family First". The clinic was originally a small, two storied department store that he renovated the absolute shit out of to turn into a clinic and a living space. He and his nurse, Marco, live on the second floor-- Marco "rents" part of the space by doing all the cooking and cleaning. The clinic is on the first floor. Jason used a large chunk of the money he had left over from being a surgeon to create the clinic so he's very particular about it. There aren't any job openings currently, per se, but the clinic could really use someone who answers the phones-- the pay would be quite low though.

+Caring: He's caring in his own way; the reason he yells at his patients and loses his temper when they don't take care of themselves is because he is concerned about them and wants them to live a healthy and fulfilling life. He's similarly intolerant with his friends when they are lazy in personal care. He expresses his affection often with anger-- he expresses several emotions with anger, so it's quite difficult to tell what he really means. He always wants the best for his patients and friends, so it's most appropriate to assume that he means well.

+Skilled: He's very good at his job. At his previous place of employment, he was on the fast track to becoming Chief of Surgery. He's rarely wrong about patient diagnosis and he works efficiently.

+Knowledgeable: Jason keeps up with the new advances in medicine and commits symptoms of diseases to memory. He's very well-versed in all the typical viruses and diseases, as well as some of the less common ones. He's rarely stumped when it comes to treating a patient.

=Frugal: Jason had always been extremely prudent with his funds, but after losing his job, he became a full blown nightmare when it comes to money. He saves on every possible front, including purchasing even the clinical supplies on sale from closing hospitals. The only big investment he made in his life is Family First Clinic.

=Sarcastic: Sarcasm is more like a defense mechanism for him. When asked about his past, or how he is on any given day, he tends to respond with a highly sarcastic tirade about how his life is all rainbows and sunshine. His sarcastic nature adds to his already extremely hostile attitude.

=Hypocritical: He tells others to take care of their mental, physical, and emotional health when he himself is an enormous fucking Mess^TM on all three fronts.

-Bitter/Salty: He's exceedingly bitter about his current situation. He hates his job, his home, the town, and everything about being a living breathing person. He's especially salty about his downfall; he worked his tail off in medical school for a surgical fellowship, surpassed his peers as a resident, and made it as an attending faster than most would think possible. Yet, despite his grand rise and influential position, his downfall came in the form of a selfish hospital who made him their scapegoat. He lost everything as a result of the lawsuit against him; his family, his wealth, his career...one decision by another cost him everything. So, yes, he might be a tad saline.

-Easily Angered: Any little thing can set him off, really. He wasn't always so reactive, but his patience has waned substantially since the recent unfortunate happenings in his life. His anger has become sporadic and difficult to predict. However, he is rarely ever physically violent towards others. While he's quick to anger, he's also quick to calm-- just a few words of explanation are often enough to cool him down completely.

-Grumpy: Jason' default state is grumpy. He often has the effect of depressing the entire ambiance of a room with his incessant grumbling and cynical outlook. Smiles are rare, but scowls are aplenty. If he hasn't been annoyed yet, this is pretty much his normal expression.

TL;DR: a very salty grandpa who's too miserable for your shit-- He's quite curt and to the point, appears extremely no-nonsense but not completely insufferable at first glance.

B I O G R A P H Y

Jason' childhood was quite normal, though he grew up more on the poor side. He excelled in academics and knew from a very young age that he wanted to be a surgeon. As his parents' only child, he felt he had an obligation to them to be successful. He was very dedicated to this and received full-ride scholarships through college and medical school. He landed one of the most sought after surgical fellowships in the country in his last year in med school and was completely elated to be given the opportunity. Unfortunately, his father died soon after.

He met his ex-wife at his father's funeral; she was the daughter of an old family friend. She shared his grief very compassionately and two became friends. It didn't take long for them to take the next step in their relationship and transition from friends to lovers. They were exceedingly content with their lives and wanted for very little. Once Jason completed his fellowship, his proposed to his then girlfriend and they got married in the next few months. The next few years of Jason' life was the happiest. The birth of his daughter only made him happier. He never thought he would be lucky enough to have such a fulfilling career and such a beautiful family. Looking back now, Jason hates himself for not realizing that that was the peak of his life.

Then came the valley.

A man came in presenting something that looked alarmingly like testicular cancer. Jason immediately sent for a biopsy and treated the patient with utmost respect and care. The result of the biopsy was, unfortunately, confused in the lab due to the hospital's inability to maintain clear and precise records. Thus, Jason received a report that said the patient tested positive for testicular cancer and that his cancer had already progressed to the third stage. Jason operated on the patient and the man had to undergo severe chemotherapy.

All the while, Jason often questioned his superiors and the other attending doctors about the patient's lack of other symptoms, but he was kept sated with the results of the biopsy. Still suspicious, Jason took the sample to a different lab and had it tested. The results of that test proved the growth to be benign. Horrified, Jason informed the hospital board of the blunder. They told him to tell the patient what had happened and assured Jason that the hospital would support him, no matter what.

So, he informed the patient of the mishap. Immediately, the hospital changed narratives and blamed Jason for the entire debacle. He was sued, lost the right to practice in the city, and his wife (ashamed of him and thinking he was no longer capable of taking care of her and their child) demanded a divorce. Heartbroken and with no other option remaining, Jason left the city and moved to Neko Oasis to begin anew. A small town didn’t require the services of a surgeon, so Jason (much to his distaste) opened a clinic and began practicing family medicine.
