Maw is an alien species that are dubbed 'Jawbreakers' for their miraculous ability to willingly break their own jaws in order to take in much larger portions [similar to how a snake unhinges its jaws] however due to their incredibly fast healing capabilities their jaws generally heal fully within just a few hours. Maw used to live on a world known as Chamber where his species thrived until it underwent peril and mass extinction due to several deadly diseases. One of them Maw has contracted known as the gem virus where the virus absorbs internal organs replacing them with gem-like organs and gives the host an insatiable appetite. These organs sometimes are exposed out of the skin and although they can be an advantage to some there are also some side effects - ranging from minor to chronic. Maw is one of the few to somehow survive this disease and was transferred to a 'safe haven' type world to be researched and put under quarantine in fear of risk. Maw escaped being under quarantine and is now a fugitive. Although he appears ferocious and intimidating, he is actually a gentle giant who doesn't particularly like harming others. Heck, he is so gentle towards others he prefers eating anything that isn't living. He's not one to really talk to people but if anyone is willing to strike a conversation he'll gladly engage. He also wears a mask to cover his 'ghastly' appearance.
