Land Arc West Website by TheRyanFord Land Arc West Website by TheRyanFord
Funny story about this project.
I was working for Strata a while back, and Land Arc West was one of our clients. We'd been working on a huge and total rebranding of the company from the ground up. I don't mind telling you, they were extremely difficult. We must've made 50 logos for them. But the logos aren't what's important. What's important is this website.

I began building this site around many of the design elements we'd settled upon, including the logo (seen on this design) and a brochure. I designed it and began coding the AS for the thing. At some point, I posted a screenshot here on dA of my progress. A few weeks later, they found it and flipped their lids.

They weren't mad that the design was posted online, though. Not really. They really just wanted an excuse to back out of their contract, and so while I scrambled to get the deviation taken down, the owners of the agency I worked for tried to convince Land Arc West to finish the project off.

So anyway, here's the design I built. I designed it to focus on the beautiful photography of their projects.
You can also visit the unfinished website at [link] . All AS and design was by me.

(Land Arc West is a name derived from the words Landscape Architecture West...they just trimmed it down so it could be personalized).

I've had the same problem with clients. I used to post up my work here and there, but one time we lost a major client and so now I never post what I do online. Apparently it's against my contract anyway.

But anyway, cool idea for the site. I would imagine that image is huge to load, and yes, the font sizes are absolutely painful to read on this 30" Mac cinema display. But, like you said, it's made for 2 years ago.

A sad fact is that in the local oil business industry, you still have to make the site look good at 800x600. You have no idea how many older oilmen keep their monitors at that size. It's sickening.

What a waste! Love the design and concept. Great navigation, and as always, clean, simple and effective.

One thing... the font could be a bit more clear and crisp. It's lacking contrast and has me squinting.

Yeah, if you've got anything bigger than a 1024 screen, the font size is a bit small. This was actually made 2+ years ago, so standard screen resolutions were different.

Thats unfortunate that the clients flipped out, its a lovely design/interface for sure. I wonder how they were able to find it here on dA so easily, the sneaky internet spiders must have did you in.

Ah, I remember this. I think, at some point, my Dad worked with this company for some landscape-related purpose a little over a year ago.
