My Top 10 Favorite WereBeasts (Because YES)

Since I watched many of these tops before (and I wanted to share my opinion about my hiperfixations and such jsjs), I decided I could make a top 10 of my favorite WereBeast characters, both to share my opinion and to make more people know about them (and yes, I know memes aren't that liked here... But I wanted to give a lil' excu-I mean try (There's also some stupid cameos of Legendary Cookies because YES)

 10-Randall: the Red-Ridding Wolf

“Ugly or not, he’s at control”

This Moshling from the Screamies set acts quite like a dumb puppy, but with the secret that he transforms into a lil’ girl at the mere sight of the full moon.

Personally, even if he’s not my fav Moshling, I think he’s still very adorable and funny despite his looks. And I find it funny that he’s a Wolf who transforms into a cute lil’ girl, because that sounds like he’s actually a kumiho’s pup or something xd

 9-Lobo Howler: Speed-Runner Wulver

“Even the youth have the power to keep time moving”

One of the SuperMonsters who have humans forms at day but change to monsters at night. Studying at Pitchfork Pines, Lobo’s quite the hyperactive and joyful kid one would like as a friend at kindergarden. Apart from his wolf-senses and liking for howling, He has the power to go at super-speed and even manipulate the speed of time at some way, he also can make any story come true if he reads at the full moon’s light.

Even if i’m not a fan of SuperMonsters anymore, I still think Lobo’s such a cute character to banish steriotypes about wolves for kids (he seems like an allegory for kids with ADHD for some reason ._.xd) He’s one of those weird cases of good wolves in child’s media afterall. And despite his personality and powers being quite similar to Sonic’s, I believe he still has charisma like the rest of the kids (and I love his interactions with Zoe, there just cute together…!)

 

 8-Pombisomem!Pepe: Fallen-Dove of des-peace

“Peace isn’t always the best option to start”

From Historietas Assombradas (a brasilian cartoon), the chaotic-but lazy Pepe got cursed by his own Grandma in the 5th episode because he din’t liked monsters nor doing chores, but insteand of becoming a werewolf, he became a Pombisomem (or Werepidgeon). Despite loosing control and being dirty at first, Pepe got control of this form after realizing he was captured by his idol: Jack Hunter, along with other monsters. After freeing them, Pepe accepts this feathery form of his, but he only can transform at full moon… Or with a moon’s drawing.

I actually like the irony they made with the Werepidgeon, because doves are normally represented as peaceful and Smart in mythology and biology, and how’s Pepe? A fat bastard who’s lazy, glutton and sometimes stubborn, but with a depth care for his friends and family despite everyone hating him… Tought, Pepe acts a lil’ more calmer and less rude when he’s the Werepidgeon idk… But still, I think he’s cool and somewhat creepy-ugly-cute (or GuroKawa as some say), and I hope if we got a 3rd season, they explain more about the curse (tought there’s a 98% of chances they dont do that, but hey, i’ll keep dreaming…)

 

 7-Roxanne Longo: Last PipoWolf on Earth

“Positivity’s the key to restore an entire species”

This Pipo from BRIXITY comes from a family who have Werewolf hereditage. With curiosity, Roxanne came to Earth with the mission to encounter and repopulate the Wolf species on Earth. She’s actually very friendly and extroverted, being proud of being a Werewolf herself, Roxanne’s the friendliest Werewolf (with a liking for sweets) you’ll meet!

When I saw her in the teaser for Spooky-Fun Halloween, I exploded with cuteness and excitement because… Well, she’s a cute Werewolf for crying out loud! I really like her actually, her perseverance to find wolves or other Werebeast like her is very adorable actually (along her lines and her love for Halloween), and her Werewolf form’s even super adorable, just look at her! Isn’t she a cute pupper? (I also love that she’s the polar opposite of Werewolf Cookie, simply interesting and hilarious).

(I also buying all her clothes trought the mileage system to cosplay as her in-game, and to scare someone in the Play Square with it xdddd )

 

 6-Werewolf!Hedgehog: Between Moonlights and Magics

“Sometimes, a change can be the start of a new journey”

In Summer Camp Island, Hedgehog (Oscar’s best friend) got bitten by a Wolf puppy after saving it, later in the night of the Moon Festival, she started to feel strange; hair growing, uncontrollable howling… Hunger for shoes? She became a werewolf. Scared and nervous, She and Oscar tried to find a cure for her, the Moon says that the cure should be using one of the hairs of that same puppy she rescued to make a soup to cure her, the “problem”? That pup’s just also in a moon festival in a forest where only werewolves can enter… After reaching there, and meeting that pup (that resulted to be the Werewolf Queen), Hedgehog realized that being a werewolf wasn’t something bad at all, she got new capacities and made new friends (one of them was Betsy; one of the 3 Council Witches of the Camp). After that night, Hedgehog accepted this form of herself, and decided to keep this “curse” that its actually a blessing as part of her.

Even if couldn’t watch SCI completly after it was moved to HBO Max (darn!), I still love the series AND this episode in particular its my fav from Season 1, apart of being a “wham episode”, it inverted the idea of the Lycanthropy being a curse, using it as a metaphor of growing and learning new things about yourself and others (some say that could been a metaphor for menstrual periods xd, tought, I believe it could be a metaphor of puberty in general tbh).

I would also like to mention here Betsy, the Werewolf Queen (who I nicknamed “Silver”) and rest of the island’s Werewolves in this top, they all also are cute and cool just like Hedgehog…!

(If I got a Nickel for everytime an hedgehog-like character became a Werebeast, I would have 2 nickels, wich isn’t much, but it’s weird it happens TWICE)

 

 5-Freddy Lupin: The Slepping Canis Rex”

“Even being small and pinkish can come with pros to be a leader”

From the 100% Wolf franchise, Freddy is the Young son of the well respected night patrol’s leader: Flasheart Lupin. After his father’s dissapeareance, Freddy needed to fulfill his 14 years of age to finally became a werewolf and be the next leader, but when the day came… He became a poodle. After being throw away because of being a dog, Freddy made friends with a rebellious dog called Batty, discovered that his father wasn’t death, and defeated his own uncle to show his true potential. Even if his father was back, Freddy wanted to prove himself that he can be a real werewolf, he went to the Howlington Academy to learn and make new friends (and enemies), Freddy discovered the sacred moonstone’s mystery, defeated the leader of the Wilderwolves, and became officially part of his own Night Patrol… But his history doesn’t end here. Even for being pink, small, and groomed, Freddy Lupin will do his best to prove he’s a 100% Wolf… And a 100% Hero!

(I’ll not talk about the movies ‘cause I like the series more).

For me, I think Freddy’s a good character who’s got alot of pros and cons…

Idk why but I feel somewhat relatable with his situation in the series (being a bit clumsy because of fear of ruinning it again, trying to be friends with Scarlet (despite her being part of a hunter family), learning to be braver and stop the Wilderwolves, etc), those things can be compared to a different youth who tries to be accepted in a world full of prejuice and evil… Like me or someone of you. Even if he’s cute when he’s in his poodle form, Freddy has been capable of defeating his uncle Hotspur, mantaining his pack safe, and even defeat a friggin’ mutated Werewolf in order to restore the mythical moonstone… And more’s that the series hinted that Freddy maybe’s a god or something called “Canis Rex”… I hope that the 2nd season of the series explains more about this, ‘cause maybe it’s connected with the fact of who’s Freddy’s mother (who died when he was very young).

 

  4-Kevin Wolfy: Good Pup in Bad Wolf’s clothing

“Even with evil in his side, dont get fooled by his darkened sight”

The young sibling of the Wolfy Kids from PJ Masks. Despite looking malicious and helping his brothers with their mischiefs to become full-fledged wolves, Kevin’s the less evil of the trio, not liking to be rude with the PJ Masks or doing extremly violent things (much to Howler and Rip’s annoyance). Even if he still loves his brothers and still helps them, there have been times he decided to help the PJs if neccesary, using his super-powered sonic-howl to throw his adversaries away with strength!

Even if like Howler and Rip too, I wanted to put Kevin here because of favoritism. I just like that despite being part of the villains, he isn’t that mean as some may think because of his punkish clothes or darkened sight. He’s quite adorable with his soft and honest personality, his liking for drawing and singing, and he’s very adorable when his eyes aren’t covered by his hair…! Tought, there was 1 time were Luna Girl and Motzuki transformed him in a full-fledged werewolf, and the result was… Creepy tbh…

But still, I still think he’s cute and cool, and I wonder if he can be a hero himself someday with that potential he has…

(And also, i’m glad that he alongside the Wolfies finally returned for season 6, since they were absent in season 5 because of the plots centered on the new characters)

 

 3-Sonic The Werehog: A Way trought the Dark

“Even with darkness infecting, he still has the willpower to save this world… And himself”

In Sonic Unleashed, after an ambush to Dr Eggman’s base had gone wrong, Sonic was used with the chaos emeralds as part of Eggman’s plan to awake the darkness of earth’s core: Dark Gaia… But unexplectly, Sonic absorbed part of the dark energy of it, and transformed in a beast-like version of himself. After being throwed to Apotos and meeting a mysterious fae-like creature whom he nicknamed “Chip”, Sonic discovered that every night he’ll transform back to this form, and with the newfound power of scretching his arms and use of this dark energy, Sonic decides to take advantage of this to restore the emeralds and planet earth. He may be a bit more moody or look scary, but he still has the same willpower and heart that a true hero possess!

I have a special place in my heart for Sonic Unleashed, despite my scissoring-fangirl-like days being over years ago, I still have a deep care for this game, it’s characters, it’s innovation, and it’s story.

I still love how SEGA made the Werehog, many tought (and many still think) that it’s an evil form of Sonic, that he’s unstable, he’s crazy, and a big etc. But he’s still Sonic! Yeah, he may be a bit moody, Wolf-like or ugly in this form, but Sonic’s still got that big willpower he always posses to defeat every enemy ahead, and with his new powers, he demostrated to be capable of overcoming this “curse” like if it was an everyday thing for him…

I also love his interactions with Chip, despite being light and dark, they still got a strong bond between them, and despite what happened at the final, Sonic will keep those precious memories he made in the journey…

(I also feel compared with his situation, there are times where I feel like people get scared or feel bad with my presence, or I feel like i’m not myself because I feel moody or downright rude. but I still keep my perseverance, and I remember there’s many people out there who understeands me and understeands my situation… Much like Sonic’s experiences when he was the Werehog)

Gosh, I just love how wholesome he’s despite the dark ambience the game gives of him! (Jasson Griffith’s Sonic’s still the best itteration of the blue blur imo)

 

 2-Wererabbit!Wallace: Bad-Veg Bunny-Beast

“Is Ferious, is Fearsome, is… Affably fluffy?”

In Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Wererabbit. The duo decided to become a pest-control called “Anti-Pesto” in order to keep in control many rabbits who wanted to eat the veggies of the townsfolk for the Anual Vegetable Contest. After making his new invention, Wallace got the idea to brainwash the rabbit’s minds to make them not eat vegetables… But an accident ocurred were a rabbit (whom Wallace called “Hutch”) was absorbed by the manchine that Wallace used in his head… After that inccident, many reported the case of a giant rabbit (whom the Vicar suspects it’s a “Were-Rabbit”) who eated all the vegetables that night. After many failed quests, Wallace tought that Hutch was the culprit because of the pawprints that leaded to the lab, but later, Gromit discovered that those prints led to… Wallace’s own room… After a tensious realization, Gromit went fast to the Tottington hall to save Wallace from a moonlitted doom, but what he din’t realized is that the forest would be the place for a terryfing-revealing turn… Will Gromit save his master from being killed by Victor Quatermaire? Could Wallace learn to know what happened to him and find a cure? All these answers will be revealed at the burrow’s end…

… Gosh, were I start?

I’ve got such a BIG curiosity about the movie in question back in 2021 (it was Venice who gived me curiosity indirectly!), when I was going to see the movie back in March of this year 2023, I was somewhat scared by the comments many people made about being traumatized by the Wererabbit in question, I got 2 thinkings; 1; it would be sicking stupid or 2; very terryfing…

 When I saw the movie… Well, he was quite scary at first, (but come on, he was being threatened by Victor!) but after seeing the movie again, I realized that the Wererabbit wasn’t scary nor an evil monster, he’s just a kind and misunderstood creature born in the worst of moments… I mean, he’s still Wallace but bunny-fied! (unnironically, the movie made me love bunnies again after thinking for a long-time they’re just sex machines ._.xd )

And… He’s just soo adorable and very fluffy…! Literally, the moment where he revealed himself to Tottie and shared a lil’ moment in the garden was my fav scene of the movie, soo lovely, soo cute, soo… Wholesome…! *sigh* I think I now know why he became my actual hyperfixation/Comfort character…!

 

 1-Werewolf Cookie: Lonesome Hurted Soul

“Tears fall from his eyes, is he really a monster? … Even with fear, he wishes for the day his scars will heal…”

From Cookie Run. After being made with black pepper and a wolf’s hair, Werewolf Cookie gained the capacity to transform in a Wolf when he felt scared or threatened at the full moon’s light… Sadly, after the village’s Cookies got fear of him when he accidentantly revealed his power with a friend in need, they shunned and attacked him believing he was just a savage beast… Werewolf became scared of himself after feeling guilty for what he made, Isolating himself in order to not get angry again or hurting other Cookies… But many Cookies seem to not have fear of him and tend to drag him to their events, Werewolf at first seems to not like that… But after time, he became used to this and even feeling better when he has company who understeands him… Afterall, he’s not a Big Bad Wolf, he’s just a timid, introvert and soft Cookie who only wishes for the day his scars (mentally and physically) will heal…

Here we go… My story for why Werewolf Cookie became my fav WereBeast is… Quite long.

At first, I hated him because of how many in the fandom called him a “edgy-emo-wolf” (because he wasn’t META in the starts of CRK), but after seeing some stories where he appears… I realized that was false, Werewolf isn’t edgy nor emo (if you want an edgy or emo character, Abbyss Monarch Cookie’s right there…), he’s just… Very asocial and scared of himself, he just feels that being alone will help him, wich at the time he feels that isn’t not helping him… He just needs love and emphathy, and supperate that trauma he had in the past…

His history along his appeareances made me feel relatable to him… I’ve suffered of bullying when I was at middle school because my schoolmates tought that I was weird and made fun of my way of being, my hyper-senses and my neurodivigency… I felt very bad and threatened, when they reached my limit, I lost control of myself and started to chase them trought the halls, they laughed and laughed, I falled down to my knees and cried with regret in the floor while many tought I was “childish” or stupid for not liking how my schoolmates treated me… I din’t felt like myself those days, I felt like… A Monster…

I felt like what happened to Werewolf was just like what happened to me… Since then, I watched him with good eyes, and he became my fav Cookie from the franchise… And even if he isn’t META or maybe not many like him, I just feel he’s perfect… He’s soft, he has a beautifull voice and singing, he’s got pretty costumes, and… And…

I’m in love of him…

I know he’s perfect with Tiger Lily Cookie and I don’t like making Self-Shipping because it gives me nervious because of how the fandom satanizes that after the Genshin inccident… But still, my only wish’s that Werewolf Cookie finds his way to feel happy and safe again… Afterall, real love doesn’t mean wanting it all to yourself or killing people because you’re crazy for him, it means wishing for the happiness of your loved-one at heart and soul…! And that’s why I just love Werewolf Cookie for how he’s…!
