Commission for redshiftinq !!
Oh my goodness I love your characters! I had lots of fun experimenting with my style with the one, by the way! I hope you like! If you would like the file without the watermark I can certainly note it to you. Thank you so much for commissioning!

From ProjectComment

This is a very cute image you drew. There's a nice connection between these two characters that's obvious from the way they are next to one another and the way they are looking at each other. It has a nice soft quality to it that makes it nice to look at.

Something you might keep in mind to improve upon in the future would be your proportions. It's a bit difficult to judge properly, since I can only see the busts of these characters, but for example; the neck of the dark character is very thick compared to her body. I think her body is a bit small compared to her head anyway; especially compared to the other character. I can see that this might have been a bit of an artistic choice, that you stylized her body a bit more to look more feminine, but keep the neck in mind in that case. It looks a bit odd for a smaller character like that to have a thick neck.

Also keep your perspective in mind when you draw anatomy; I think this is most noticeable with their ears. Although the light character is angled somewhat to his right; his right ear seems a bit larger than his left ear; even though his left ear should be closer to us in the way his head is angled. The same goes for the dark character; though it's a bit less noticeable.

I'm not totally sure what you had in mind for her glasses, but it looks like the sides of her glasses are just tunneling into her ear. It's always a bit tricky to adjust human fashion to animal anatomy, but keep in mind that those parts of the glasses are usually resting on a person's ears. When you adjust the anatomy of your character it's a good plan to keep in mind to adjust their accessories as well.

I would also suggest to look into shading a bit more; it can really make your images look better and more like a 3D form. There's a bit on the lighter character's ears, but I'm not sure if that's a fur lining or shading. If it's the latter I'm not sure why there's shading there, but not elsewhere on the characters. Keep your light source in mind and try to keep it consistent in your piece.

On a small side-note; I'd really advice against the watermark you added; it shows up weirdly over the characters and makes your image look less nice. At the same time the watermark is too small to read properly, so in terms of identification it doesn't help much and even for that you already add a small signature to mark it as your own, in a way that's less intrusive to the image.

I hope you'll find these tips useful for your future images; you have a very cute style and these characters fit it very well. Keep on practicing and improving!

Hey there!! I'm glad you find my art style cute and such!

Thanks so much for the critique- I've been looking into anatomy and I know that I can do much better than this! I also agree with the lighting- I didn't really pay too much attention to where the light source is and I'll make sure it's more defined next time around ahaha.
These, however, aren't my characters so the design choices (the thick neck and the way the glasses are positioned) were not made by me and I just drew from the reference sheets. When doing commissions, though, should I change some of these elements to make them more realistic (Nothing against my friend here who commissioned me, of course)? I dunno, I'm just looking for advice.

Oh, and yeah- I've gotten some comments on the DeviantART watermark and I'm thinking of making my own instead of using the default. That's also why I give the client an unwatermarked file too- I agree completely that it can really blotch the drawing and it's starting to bother me now that I think about it.
But anyway yeah, thanks so much for taking the time to type all this out!! It's really helpful. :)

Interesting question there; Personally I think that when doing commissions you can always adjust things as you see fit; after all they've contacted you to draw the image, so your artistic vision counts for something. However, always keep your commissioner updated, maybe even ask if you can do certain things in advance, that way you won't have to waste time to redo it later if they don't want you to. Especially when people commission their own characters, it's best to ask. Sometimes people want to see you try their characters in your style, with your vision, sometimes they just want a good copy of their reference. Communication with your customer is always key!

Hello from project comment! Constructivecomment
The fur lines ar good you have got that down! but you should try working on your anotomy a bit more. Look at where the arms ar going the should be going outward not in ward it shows that they are in a really stif pose  Fd8edde6-0d05-4a0f-873d-594631cdfb2a by Glo72
Try and focus on where the light is coming. Here a fun little practice thing you can do to get better at light. Draw some spheres from different spots and show how the light will hit them.  2f06f436-cf4b-48cc-9d0e-fe18b9775bac by Glo72  >w< may add a few bits of light and color in the eye! 365ad7bd-4cd7-4fca-b997-bfacfc89b5b7 by Glo72  One thing that is bothering me a lot it the line going straight threw the ear. Also shouldn’t the glasses be on top of the ear you have to pay attention to ever little detail when you draw >w< maybe you can try adding a background it would make the thing look a whole lot cuter!
I’m sorry I just had to >w<!

>w< I hope It helped you!

Hey there!! Oh my goodness, thank you so much for the critique it was really helpful!!! And yeah, lighting is kind of my artistic weakness right now but I'm trying to work with it :P XD
And heh, yeah a lot of my drawings are kind of stiff but I'm trying to work with that too. I don't usually sketch out the whole body when drawing busts, but I could try that and see what improves. I don't usually put backgrounds in my commissions, but backgrounds are a possibility! Once again, thanks so much!!! :)
