I've been pushing myself to draw as many Gestures as fast as I can, and, honestly, I think, to improve my work flow, I need to step away from one machine at the gym and stretch some different muscles with another.

An expression one hears at the range is, "slow is smooth and smooth is fast."  One hears a lot of nonsense at the range, but the idea here is that speed comes after one has pared down method to essentials - that is when your eyes see at a glance what is important to capturing the rhythm and your hand follows your eyes - then once the steps are secure at a slow pace, one speeds up automatically, not thinking, just following the pattern.

Its important to practice speed.  But it's also important to reserve conditions of high stress to lock in skills after they've peaked.  Otherwise, the effect is crippling.

I recently went in the other direction doing gestures without time limits simply to allow a chance to really study what's going on with hands and feet, instead of dashing them off with a line or two.
