I'm getting bored of just doing studies to improve OC's and fanart that I'm not, ultimately, posting; so, in lieu of this egregious dearth of visual splendor, I'm going to start cranking out some fun cheesecake; partly for content's sake (but mostly just for the sake of fucking mileage!) I mean, goddamn: how long has it been since I posted so much as a thumbnail! Anything that could pass for an original submission!
(Granted I was busy connecting my head vigorously to my desk, thumping out the first episode in my dark fantasy miniseries 'Seizure of the Gods'; which, thus far, is beta-testing beautifully; relieving a metric ton of anxiety. After months upon months of mentally breast-stroking through surreal eldritch imagery, period references; dusting off years of religious epistemology; philosophy; history; reading up on medieval mysticism and its derivations in modern political theory; and listening to albums upon albums of power metal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkLOejgJrNA ; and watching several movies for character references, story theory, and plot beats; and reading multiple novels and pulps one top of everything else!) It's been a journey, I'll say that, and, now that the first draft is done, and the second episode is already percolating in the weird periphery of my brain, I can finally focus on something less subjective and more visceral: sexy fanart.*
I'll have to double-triple check to ensure the site's AI doesn't scrape my work (more than it probably already has, as amateurish as it is). Right now I'm just trying to ignore that demoralizing factor and just create, because (as a rule) a drawing, no matter how piss poor, is always going to be better than a drawing that doesn't even exist. Drawing fills me with a sense of accomplishment and mastery in something that's physical, that's easy to observe and enjoy. It's why I want so badly to incorporate it into my youtube channel (which I'm committing to launch before New Years!).
Out there is some nerdy lil' sperg perpetually starving, like I was, for fantasy; fantasy that's evocative and thoughtful; that's gritty and heroic; that isn't suspicious of, when not downright hostile to its readership. So many times reading the Eternal Champions like Corum I thought, 'God! Where was this guy when I was growing up!'
Where was Lord Dunsany? Chambers? Lovecraft? Howard? Heinlein? Fritzleiber? Vance? Pratchett? Gaiman? Or Moorcock? I needed these guys but, fuck me, I just couldn't find them! But how much better would high school have been with 'The Queen of Swords' riding in my backpack? Or 'Swords against Death'? Or 'Knight of the Seven Kingdoms'? Or 'Guards! Guards!'? It's infuriating to think about.
There was no snarky bard siting by a campfire back then, waiting to whisper me into worlds undreamt of and legends untold. That guy didn't exist; and he still doesn't...!
That's why I want to be him. I want to tell the stories teenagers want to hear-- like 'The Moon of Skulls', 'Dagon', 'The Repairer of Reputations', 'The Wonderful Window' and 'The Howling Tower'-- they just don't know it yet...!
*Bc it is possible to be both thoughtful and horny. If not there goes the whole human race.
