Pro tip about coloring brunettes, always use blue, never black; it'll save you one headache (I stress, "one").

 For the highlight on her belt, I simply erased the flat colors layer and let the neon blue multiply layer do all the heavy lifting. As for the background, I applied a gaussian blue--a field blur also would've worked--and then I made a cast shadow using the silhouette layer under my flat colors; simply clicking Transform, then Distort; and then I just grabbed the middle bracket on the silhouette and dropped it to the floor; adjusting the angle to taste. After that I used a soft air brush to make a spiral, emphasizing her head, with the same neon blue as the Multiply layer to keep the aerial light, and the rim light, consistent.

 This was the first time I've ever lit an OC (even if there's no bounce lighting and no subsurface scattering). Ngl, I think some significant strides were made, here. This is, by far, the most feminine I've gotten a character to look; let alone an Asian one.
