Description
I did make a bit of an oopsie; because I forgot that light bounces, and that's what makes the subtle gradations of light dispersing from the core shadow that defines a form is turning. Time was wasted making decisions that this lil' factoid could've expedited.
Overall, tho, this was a massive jump back to the status quo; and that's deeply heartening to me. It makes me want to study more, to observe myself visibly improving. Now, is it a perfect one-to-one replica? No, it's 30 minutes; that's the amount of time I have to render, no more, no less. It's pretty damn close, tho, that's for fuckin' sure; at least it is to me, but, hey: I'm still shakin' the last bit of rust off my hand.
Keeping the reference small certainly removed a lot of the niggling fixations on minute details. Certainly made blocking out the shadows easier; so did loosely sketching their silhouettes beforehand.
Render Hack:
Just coloring in the tablecloth, with a soft airbrush, with pressure sensitivity flipped on, will render a texture through waves of light.
It's more important to represent the texture of the cloth and the overall gradations of light than slavishly replicating every dip 'n' wrinkle in the fabric.
