Darnell Study #2

I'm getting more accustomed to piggybacking lines, using preexisting strokes as launch points for others; as well as applying more weight where lines intersect, so everything has more depth; and occlusion, I'm recognizing patches of space where next to no light can penetrate.

Absolutely, I did simplify the frills, for the sake of expediency, but I did try to faithful when it came to the general shape language of each individual frill; unless there was so much noise I couldn't discern what was actually being represented.

Probably my biggest regret is not choosing a sample that obscures the design of the dress. Simplification was vital to conserving time while still observing the essential techniques employed in the reference; so being able to actually see what the hell I'm simplifying would have been, you know, nice. That said, that's not a comment on the quality of the sample--Darnell is brilliant--that's a mistake I made that hamstringed my ability to do the reference justice.
