Description
I'm still deciding how much of this I want to be detailed--whether to sketch a full forest floor and background, or, to just keep it simple and only render the tree behind the Bard and the Fire for a sense of location--- admittedly I'm leaning heavily towards the "Less is more!" camp; but I'm still mulling over how much animation there should be as well. If I keep the scenery simple, I'd like for there to be SOME animation for the lights and shadows and, maybe, the Bard also. For the lights and shadows I can't see myself bothering with anything more atmospheric than a modest 3-5 frames looped in concert with the Fire's intended 5 . As for the Bard, the animation might be his tail twitching or his eyes blinking. Anything more than that, for a default background that's going to be blurred for the majority of a given episode, would just be a waste of time.
Lighting for the light and shadows should be (relatively) straight forward: I'll start with the darkest frame to match the Fire at its lowest, then add more light to each successive frame for five frames (or, alternatively, I could just stick with the original plan and just animate the fire and let the night lighting stay consistent).
Yeah. I'm definitely going to just keep the set and animations simple, for now. I'll elaborate as I practice more with background design and animations. For now 5 frames of fire is enough; if I have time for animating lights and shadows, I'll do, but I'm on a deadline to finish this set and start relearning how to chop a video with audio.
