Bard Set WIP: Lights Pt.1

Description

I just finished laying down the stark lighting for the legacy set. There's still considerably more cheese to be sprinkled on top, but it's lookin' good.

For anyone new to lighting, here's how I did it (it's super simple, take you no time at all), and it's four basic steps:
1)Draw your lines. Make sure they're clean!
Note: Clean lines are easier to read from far away, and redraw if you do anything with a transformation tool, like Warp, Skew or Perspective; or if you use Liquify.
2)On a layer under your lines, lay down your flat colors.
3)Over you flat colors layer, make a new one and paint it whatever color you want your lighting to be. Think of this like a colored lens on a camera.
4)Pick an angle for the light to travel and, on that layer, erase wherever the light touches. Set that layer to multiply, adjust opacity to taste, and voila!
Note: Less is more! If you're not sure the light is touching the spot your pen's hovering over, pick a spot where you know for damn certain that's where the light is.
Note: The brush I use for this crunchy texture is called (one moment, please!)--it's called "Kyle's Erase--Natural Edge" and it's part of Kyle's brush set, which is where I get my Hard Pencil, my Charcoal Pencil 3, and my trusty Thick 'n' Heavy brush, the latter of which I use for hair and fine lines.

This just handles the basic lighting, specifically my STARK lighting, but it can be modified-- by adjusting the opacity and rendering the shadows a bit-- it can be modified to create lighting styles for a multitude of moods and genres.
