The Tenth Doctor, aka Timeless. (Yes, having fun with the space and time puns.)

Credit to the BBC and the one and only David Tennant for the original image from which this pose was referenced.

A continuation, in reverse order - as befits a timelord - of some 50th Anniversary Doctor Drawing; following this one:

I can't get over the fact how good his hair looks. Can you tell me your secret? OwO

Sure! I've never been good at keeping a secret. :D

I started with some blue watercolour on one side, to give a bit of a sonic-screwdriver shine, and left the other side bare for the brighter, unseen lightsource. Then I layered coloured pencil from light to dark, scoring individual hairs out as each new layer of colour was added. When that's done, if you're feeling really ambitious, you can go back into those bright, scored-out lines with very sharp coloured pencils and give them a gradient (from dark at the root to bright at the tip), and that will help give them shape. I hope that's useful! :)

Thank you!! I don't know how, but I'll  be sure to try this out at some point :D Especially scoring seemed pretty handy, as the thought of marking the paper like that has never occurred to me. I've probably done it by accident sometimes, erasing stronger pecil lines and adding tones later just to see a small white line crossing the area, especially when I used 4B exclusively.

Funny how different they turned out.  I love art.  Well done; you have magnificent sense of detail, especially on the hair.

Nice one! It was a tricky pose, wasn't it? I've never drawn a face which seemed to be oriented in two different directions before. It fits the character, somehow.

Many thanks! And compliments on your icon. Doctor Who Animated Smiley

I know it.  It's impossible to truly appreciate that face till you try to draw it.  You are so right - it's so unique from every angle!  I love a lot of faces, but right now I'm infatuated with the challenge this one offers.

Thank you!

Schminke and Windsor and Newton watercolours for the background and base layers; Lyra and Prismacolor coloured pencils for the skin tones, hair and detail work; all on cotton-fibre based paper, so it would hold up to the torture of so many different mediums. :)
