Francisco Ibáñez is dead. The creator of Mortadelo y Filémon aka Clever and Smart in Germany. His comics about two clumsy spies from Spain brought fun to my family and was one, if not the only comic content my grandpa, my pa, my brother and me enjoyed and collected together. In our basement we have all 150+ comics in first print version. As kids my brother and me walked trough stores to find missing examples and searched for good copies on flea markets. It was a hobby and content that brought a feel of "family " into my family. I always tried to reach his kind of line and detail quality to make my grandpa and pa proud and interested in my own stuff. People always asked me what my influences as an artist were and is, I will always put him as the main one and will never forget to mention him. The biggest archievement he ever did was his episode "Mit Ächz und Ork, Quer Durch New York!", which made my brother laugh so hard that he had trouble breathing for the reast of the day. Yesterday I lost another big hero in my life. RIP Fransisco...
