Depth of Night

Another shot from the 135th Lighting. I converted this to BW because I liked the mood it created.

I think this will be my entry to the Marin Photo Club's final competition of the year with a them of "A shot in the Dark"

I think this fits the bill!

This is a fantastic photo! I ran across this on a website of "Photos that look Photoshopped, but aren't" photos, and it linked directly to your gallery. You have some great stuff! Thanks for the inspiration!

I faved this a long time ago, but now I live in San Mateo and just saw this lighthouse in real life. This picture is amazing. Congrats on all the praise and accolades!

Thanks! You should go this year when they light it. It's a fun afternoon/evening.

It sounds like it. My son loves lighthouses. Is it a summer thing? I guess I can google it...

Here's the info:

The Fresnel lens is lighted during our
annual celebration held on the Saturday
closest to November 15. Activities
include docent-led tours of the grounds,
marine mammal displays, living history
demonstrations and educational videos.
The celebration concludes with the
lighting of the lens from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
For more information contact the park
Friday to Sunday at (650) 726-2120.

They hold the Fresnal lens still for 6 minutes and then it starts turning. Best photographs are obtained in the first 6 minutes :)
