You went pretty literal with the nagel.

I saw a sword in a scholorgladiatoria video that had a nail exactly like this. Like literally just a nail sticking out of the hilt. I always thought it was neat.

I haven't seen one like that, but I'm not surprised - you clearly know what you're painting.

I am not one that is able to express their emotions and thoughts nicely. But this work awakens a lot of emotions in me. It looks realistic and magical at the same time. It makes me feel sadness and calmness at the same time, and angst. I love the details on the sword and the nail, the cross that is still in his arm. Leaves, fish and butteflies that are ignorant of his condition, and blood that is slowly coloring the water. Sad, but beautiful.

I really love this picture and how it is presented. Good job! The armor looks very good. However, as a history nerd, my head screams that a sword puncturing that armor is impossible ^^

I thought when I made this that I provided enough tidbits for people to gather that there's something supernatural going on in the image but unfortunately, A: i don't think most people notice them and B: for those that do i don't think the supernatural element is a suitable explanation the pierced armor. At least, I guess there isn't enough implication to make that connection for the viewer. Oh well.

Yes, I didn't notice the connection. But it's good to hear that it's not because of ignorance but for a supernatural/symbolic reason.

The reflection in the water is perfect! Is there a story for this particular piece? Your art amazes me. You are so skilled!

I imagined he was a famed witch hunter of sorts. He thought himself bold enough to take on a greater foe, an age old "witch" as she's called. She plucked his sword from his hand and drove it through him without so much as lifting a finger.

What kind of monster managed to ramm a broadsword right through plate and chainmail armor? Like seriously, that takes some serious amount of strength.

Cool artwork. But what a waste of ressources in those days. He would be all naked soon after his death. But strong and nice armour. German, Nurnberg, I suppose...

As a medieval fighter myself I must say that the acuracy of the armor is amazing. The likelyhood of getting killed this way is fairly small since even a well sharpened great sword cannot pierce a solid gothic place armor, but there is a big dent in the armor there the sword is, so maybe someone hit the knight with a blunt weapon like a warhammer or a mace that created that dent then the soldier with the sword struck the killing blow.

Just awesome! Also, to puncture plate armour like that and so deep, that must have been done with some serious force. I especially like the details on the sword with the nail on the crossguard and the runes.

I just. I'm sure you get this all the time but encouraging artists is so important and I just wanted to say I seriously look up to you. This piece is incredibly intriguing and beautiful. It's one of those pieces that go straight to my heart and stay there. Seeing this piece for the first time was like... my moment, you know? This is the kind of thing I want to be capable of some day. The moths, the necklace and the reflection of a humanoid figure in the water; what a rich narrative behind the visual, with or without any indication from the title. Impressive in many ways!
