On the moon

- "By the gods, it is even more otherworldly in person! Well! What do you make of that?"
- "Honestly, it looks like something made it, something besides ancient geology or meteor impacts."
- Extraterrestrials, you mean?
- "Possibly, it doesn't look like volcanic and seismic activity could have created this, even if volcanic vents and lava tubes can create novel and interesting designs. This on the other hand, looks far too unusual."
- "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and you wont be the first or last to look at something we don't understand yet and say 'Extraterrestrials!' "
- "Yeah, well this time we are staring at something that will rewrite our history or show that something does exist out there, something besides just bacteria and molecules."

The two figures gaze at the monument before they begin to scramble down the crater. Soon it is investigated and the reason for why stars have begun to disappear in the night sky becomes evident. The monument describes something known as the "amalgamate" and proposes it to be the reason for the disappearing stars.
