"Now the chief of the wolfhounds that followed Celegorm was named Huan. He was not born in Middle-earth, but came from the Blessed Realm; for Oromë had given him to Celegorm long ago in Valinor, and there he had followed the horn of his master, before evil came. Huan followed Celegorm into exile, and was faithful; and thus he too came under the doom of woe set upon the Noldor..."
Celegorm, despite being a dick in the tale of Beren and Luthien, is one of my favorite Silmarillion characters, and I absolutely adore his hound Huan. I like to imagine that they were pretty close before encountering Luthien, since they hunt together and The Lay of Leithian mentions Huan saving his master in battle many times. Since he was close with Oromë (who taught him the tongues of birds and beasts) and loved hunting I think of Celegorm being associated with woodlands. I know I might get reamed for him having blond hair, but The Lost Road
says "golden was his long hair" and his Old English name is Cynegrim Faegerfeax, which is Celegorm Fair-hair... plus I just always imagined him blond/ light brunette. Fight me.
**Edited** I had originally used silver ink for the borders, but when photographed it just looked too dark and dull. I went back and put silverleaf on instead. Silverleaf is a bitch to work with, but it really brightened this up.
