Description
A very poorly done and very late dedication to Sir Christopher Lee.
This isn't as beautiful as it was in my head but ah well.
I believe in many places for the soul to go to, not just Heaven, or Valhalla, etc.. I like to think that the Grey Havens are real somewhere too. This image came to me shortly after I was done crying "no!" over and over for a bit upon hearing the news of his death. Sir Lee loved Tolkien, I read somewhere that he read the trilogy every year. I like to think that Sir Lee boarded one of the grey ships, and sailed to the Grey Havens.
There was an animated Return of the King done by Rankin & Bass in the 80's, and they had a song for when Frodo sails to the Grey Havens. I listened to it several times to help with my grieving, that one and also "Into the West" by Annie Lennox. The part of the lyrics that comforted me were these:
"Roads go ever, ever on
To the lands beyond the sea.
On a white ship will I sail,
Watching shadows part for me.
Leaving Havens grey with rain,
Now that years have slipped away.
Leaving friends with gentle pain
As they start another day.
The roads I travel I must leave,
For I've turned the final bend.
Weep not empty tears, but grieve
As the roads come to an end."
Namarie, Sir Lee. Thank you for everything you gave us.
Sir Christopher Lee belongs to himself
Roads Go Ever, Ever On belongs to Rankin & Bass
