Hello! We’d like to welcome you to our new group: TheKnow, which is aimed primarily at writers.
Our tagline says “Human Resources” and that’s what the group is all about. Essentially we’re a hub for putting people in contact with each other.
As our founder anapests-and-ink states:
Research is a huge part of writing. And there are several things for which it's hard to find a good resource.
Deviantart is a big place, full of folks with different backgrounds and experiences. What if there was a place where we could offer our personal knowledge to all those people looking for information?
We want to be that place.
One of the things we’re going to do is build up a database. We want people to submit scraps to our gallery—a title on the scrap giving the subject area, brief details of the area of experience in the body of the scrap, and a request in the artist’s notes to contact the Deviant.
Something along these lines, for example:
Synaesthesia
I have synaesthesia: I associate colours with letters and numbers.
Submitted to TheKnow. Please send me a note if you wish to ask me questions for your writing research!
We also want to take requests from Deviants. Need to find someone who has worked as a fire eater as research for your story? Leave a comment! We’ll gather requests together and put them out as a journal, asking anyone who can help to contact the requesters. We’re thinking of posting alternate journals—the first telling you what’s on offer, the second telling you what’s been requested.
It would be wonderful to have as many people as possible joining but watching the group is just as important. We realise some people may not want to have their details permanently on display, but may feel comfortable discussing their experiences privately via note. So keep an eye on the group, and see if anyone is requesting information that you can supply. Then you can contact the requester directly.
Please feel free to ask any questions! (It’s probably going to help the admins, as much as it helps you ^^”)

Do we have to be experts, or just have a bit of background experience/upbringing?
