This account is getting too cluttered for me! Please add me on this new account, it will be STRICTLY for taxidermy, I wont be uploading taxi here any more!
Well, I just got back from my 8 hour round-trip to Corpus Christi...but boy was that 8 hours well worth it! I got to meet another great taxidermist...and not only did he give me the two still-born fawns that I had traveled down there to get but he hooked me up with a lot of stuff that will keep me busy for a while!
Here's all the things he gifted me:
A Blackbuck cape
Four Whitetail buck capes (with four racks)
Three lifesize Bobcats
A lifesize Coyote
Two still born lambs
And of course the two fawns
He had other stuff he was ready to give...but I just don't have the freezer space yet! I will be getting a chest freezer in the next few w
Well, I was in some serious need of a new journal...so I thought I would post a little update.
For starters, I will be getting 2 stillborn whitetail fawns for either mounting or freezedrying. I know I want to keep one for myself, but the other may be available for sale after I make a trip to Corpus to pick them up. They are frozen whole now, so I'm not sure what exactly I'll be doing with them. :D
I am finally getting my own chest freezer as well...so my dead animals won't be bogarting my family's freezer, and I can store a whole lot more frozen and wet tanned specimans. Right now, I have a few pedistal small mammals in there and a couple d
I'm sorry for any inconvience, but I will be not be able to stream today. I started getting into the hide prep for the cape...and let's just say that my tanner and the guy that sold me the cape will both be getting a very unpleasant email from me. The ears on the coyote were extreamly damaged and the slipping that occurred at the tannery was made worse when i started working it. In short, the cape was far from what i payed for.
Again, sorry...I'll be working on getting a refund or a better cape that is worth what i payed.
Hello all :D
I had a quick question or "poll" since my subscription here ran out and I can no longer do the regular polls...I thought I would just ask in a journal. So just leave me an answer in the comments if you don't mind. :)
Would any one here be interested if I started doing some taxidermy live streaming sessions for lifesize mammals and gameheads?
I currently have several projects that I am about to start because supplies are on order or about to be ordered for the following animals:
1. Life Size Badger
2. Life Size Dingo
3. Mule Deer Doe Gamehead
4. 2 Pronghorn Antelope Ram Gameheads
5. Whitetail Deer Buck Gamehead
Just thought I would share with you folks interested in taxidermy...the above link is a photobucket album that I put together after I got home from a taxidermy seminar.
I drove up to Kerrville, TX with my friends Jonathan and Abbey to watch Ken Walker (the best lifesize mammal taxidermist of the time) mount a diorama with a mountain lion and an axis deer.
I took a lot of WIP pictures as he mounted up the animals, and some of them might prove usefull for some of the beginner taxidermist on this site...that and they are just neat pictures.
Some of the pictures ar
I have a lifesize/plushable coyote pelt that I am helping sell for a good friend.
It's a very large, dark colored yote that is about 60 inches total length. It's a dry tanned female.
This yote pelt would be a perfect pelt for someone interested in making a plush and it has a great coloration for someone looking for a nice eastern coyote.
The price is $115 shipped.
Here is a picture!
Well, I've kinda been lurking around as of late.
...Trying to keep up with all this anti-taxidermy crap that's been going on. It was ridiculous, but I am sure glad it seems to be calming down now. There really is no reason for the activists to be spamming and flaming over another's opinion.
Anyways, my holiday was awesome. Christmas was amazing, I loved being around my family and then my friends too. I got to make a trip up to Austin right before Christmas with Kelsey and we hung out and did some work up at MAD Taxidermy Studio. We skinned out several Whitetails, a couple Red Stags, and we got to do fun finnishing work and airbrush a bunch
I am taking a small hiatus from DeviantArt for about a month. I will be back sometime towards the middle of January. I have my college exams this coming week, and then I get about a month's vacation before the Spring semester starts, and I want to enjoy that month's vacation to the fullest without having to worry about DA.
To all my friends, I will still be around on AIM and Facebook to chat with you. And to all my commissioners, I will still be working on your commissions as scheduled. The Opossum plush I will be starting on next week, as well as the couple drawing I owe. I just want to get final exams out of the way before I focus on the c
Save Alaska's Elk and Deer (among other important wildlife).
Pro-Wolf Groups CLAIM to be wildlife conservationists, when in reality most of them care only for the conservation of the wolf, and do not care for the other creatures and species that hurt when the wolf populations climb.
Many wolf activists will defend wolves using MYTHS about the specie's hunting and survival habbits.
View this slideshow and read some of the information on this site-http://www.saveelk.com/wolf_002.htm
You will see that wolves are NOT the wholesome, godly creatures that some think they are. They eat animals alive, kill for FUN, and will also kill pregnant anim
I apologize for the recent lack of activity here...I feel like I've lost touch with DA almost completely...so I figured I would at least lend a quick update to let everyone know what's going on now, and what will be happening in the near future.
I have been ridiculously busy the past couple months with all my schooling and work and the extra taxidermy related things on top of it.
I just had all my mid-terms for my college classes in the last two weeks, and things are just going to stay busy with school until the end of the school semester in December. I feel like I really did spread myself too thin this semester and took too many
*NOTE* Under the comments in this journal I took the liberty to hide all of the comments that were spawned from a religious comment made by another user. I felt that was uncalled for (I don't care what your religious afiliation is) let's keep things on topic, shall we?
All the anti-fur zombie site supporters need to quit crying over spilt milk and go do something more constructive with their time then flame and disrespect people who are avid supporters of taxidermy and the like.
I'm done acting civil, from now on, if you are a "fur zombie" hater, your opinion will be treated with same respect that you give mine-there will be none.
