When he first came to The Island of Sodor, Thomas was enlisted by The Fat Controller to show him around, but Billy was impulsive & made some mistakes. First, he wouldn't listen to Thomas, 2nd left some chickens behind at Farmer McColl's farm, 3rd he refused to take on more coal & water, 4th he neglected to deliver diesel oil to Anopha quarry, 5th, he pushed Percy under a coal hopper at the coaling plant, & finally he puffed away (without filling his trucks with coal to deliver to the depot) resulting & both his bunker & tanks depleted. However, after having his tanks & bunker, with the help of Thomas, Billy delivered his chickens to Brendam docks, the diesel oil to Mavis & Devious Diesel at the quarry & finally, some coal trucks to the depot.
