Description
Demonstrating my drawing process with the first page of Meatware. Drawing program is mainly Clip Studio Paint, sometimes GIMP for quick stuff.
- I discovered the color burn method with this very page. Prior to that i was setting the layer to line-lock and added different colors to the line-art by hand, which didn't take a *great* deal longer but doing it with color burn makes it a matter of seconds. It's also a lot more consistent this way, as the colors will remain exactly the same hue on every page if you use the same texture every time.
- I get most of my textures from license free/no cpyright batches. Found a great on that has super high res of metal and wood and such, it's perfect for this color burn method. If i need a specific tone i just change the hue of the imported texture in CSP directly.
- I much prefer taking my rough sketch, scanning it and drawing over it instead of making a seperate line-art layer, to preserve the "feel" of the initial drawing. I always fell like so much gets lost when you re-draw sketches for line-art... Plus i love the look of a sketchy pencil style, much more so than any clean line-art. I dunno how to describe it, but it feels more pure... more real... I always admired concept art more than the final product. It focuses more on the raw emotion, it's much more expressive, much more... artistic, to put it as pretentiously as possible.

I love this sm. Very much agree with the pencil feel, getting into digital has been tough because of it.
